Relocated to Berlin a couple years ago from New York, @carly-zeng is a Chinese-born DJ and an all round creative. 

Since her move she's been on the hunt for records across Europe (Germany, Belgium, Italy...) and effortlessly shares some of her finds for this mix. She exhibits her quirky and edgy style with an 80s, New Beat and EBM theme, as well as taking inspiration from her previous gig at Superluminal & Discarded Gems x Satelliet Studio @ Crack Bellmer, Berlin. It’s fun, it’s fierce, it’s everything you’d want from the 80s. 

If you've heard her previous sets you'd notice her craft for storytelling: "I enjoy uptempo, high energy sets and a nice buildup." She then confesses, "so I’m kind of a BPM junkie - I try to label a lot of my records so I can arrange them in certain parts of a set quickly."

How does the presence or absence of light regulates our internal biological processes and moods?
Circadian rhythms are endogenous time-keeping systems that synchronize most organisms, from unicellular cyanobacterium to humans, to the external solar cycle. Since light information is the most potent synchronizing factor, biological clocks coordinate the individual’s internal physiological and biochemical processes according to light and dark cycles.
The show is divided into two sets of 1 hour and the musical selection of each DJ reflects those moments: day or night. In this episode Manuel Jelen (UY) is in charge of the first part of the program, and Diamin (CL) of the second.

Tobias (known for his ever-lasting smile) effectuates his greatest sonic pleasure by discovering records from the so-called less ‘fruitful’ years of electronic music and paying them the unremembered respect they deserve, whilst also digging deep and distinctively into the inimitable sounds of the 90s.⁣

Zaltbommel has also been sharpening his proverbial sword in the studio of late, drawing artistic inspiration in particular from Lucio Dalla, who was a master at effortlessly adapting to different genres from jazz to dance music and obsequiously intertwining their different characteristics. ⁣

So, we implore you to keep those eyes peeled for Zaltbommel’s future releases, but in the meantime lend an ear to this impeccably thoughtful and mood-provoking podcast. Nesting beautifully together like a set of Russian Dolls, this one makes it so god damn hard to remove yourself from the groove.
