She suggested that we put vitrage
on the kitchen door
so, people who use “the highway”
would not see us.
But I say:
NO
I don't want vitrage.
I want to be able to look out
and see
the plants
the patio
the animals
the roofs on the skyline,
the chimneys
the wall from the back building
the light of the sun reflected on it
changing colors
depending on the seasons
on the weather
on the time of the day
and I don't want to miss that
those sunsets
those violet clouds
those greens
I want to be part of it
absorb it
and fly with it
to the infinite skies.


Ella sugirió que pusiéramos vitrage
en la puerta de la cocina
así la gente que usa el freeway
no nos puede ver.
Pero yo digo:
NO
No quiero vitrage.
Quiero poder mirar afuera
y ver
las plantas
el patio
los animales
los techos en el horizonte,

del clima
de la hora del día
y no quiero perderme eso

En este país hay que aprovechar cuando sale el sol
así, entre las nubes, ese cachito que se asoma,
hay que dejar todo lo que se está haciendo
y poner la cara
porque no dura
así como vino
escurriéndose entre los edificios
asomándose en ese triángulo entre el balcón y la cortina
y el techo del vecino de enfrente
así como ahora está,
ya se fue,
dejando la sombra gris
sin contraste en esta página blanca
en la que escribo
y así como ahora existen los contornos y los ángulos
y la tibieza de su luz en mi perfil
en unos segundos ya no habrá nada más que la grisedad
y la soledad
de la ausencia de su compañía.

Sí, acá uno aprende a no dejar pasar
el momento
la oportunidad
porque como el sol
se va y no vuelve.

En California, donde vivía antes,
los días parecían ser todos iguales:
una sucesión de soles
y una los da por descontado
como si así tuviera que ser para siempre
en todos lados.

Pero no.
Eso es sólo The California Bubble.
