I remember my first Easter Parade
The sun was bright
And the crowd large
But in retrospect it wasn’t really a Parade
As Much as it was
The Mayor marching up and down the street
Screaming things like
“Today’s my birthday!”
Even though his birthday was in June
I think he just wanted some attention

Last Easter
I screamed at my Priest
It happened during Confession
When I told him I’d sinned because I was allergic to pollen.
He told me that’s not a sin at all
And I said hell yeah man it sure it is
Then we started yelling at each other
And ruined the entire Mass

There was one Easter
Where all my family ate was bread
For breakfast, lunch, and dinner too
Goddamn did my family eat a lot of bread
And when I asked dad why were we doing this?
He just looked at me and said my son
This is just one of those Easters
Where you eat a bunch of bread
So sit back down and keep eating your bread.

I was sick
