Commissioned by Ensemble for These Times, "The Unseen" is a 7 movement song cycle setting poetry by Sarah Teasdale centered around themes of sickness, isolation, joy, loss, death, and the environment. 

Premiered by Chelsea Hollow (soprano) and Margaret Halbig (piano) October 15, 2021 at Old First Concerts, SF.

Nell - Faure

The name came about while writing some short bagatelles for 2 B-flat clarinets. Both are contrasting character pieces exploring the space and sound world that can be formed from instruments I had not had the pleasure of acquainting myself with before, and I am so glad I did!

These pieces have not been recorded live yet, but I believe the MIDI realizations here provide an adequate spirit for the pieces.

VI. The Coin

As a former teenage bride is confronted by the youth she skipped, she and her husband struggle to find how they can possibly grow old together. Inspired by Bob Dylan's song “You’re a Big Girl Now”.

This would not have been possible without a phenomenal cohort of musicians that I am lucky to also call friends. I am forever inspired by them, and proud of the story we were able to tell.
