Este último retiro en el "barracón" es una acción de gracias, un reconocimiento de la acción de Dios en el alma, un canto coral de alabanza.

Cuando Jesús hizo de María la madre de la Iglesia, ponía en continuidad el nuevo Pueblo de Dios con el hogar de Nazaret. A José se le encomendó la misión de custodiar ese hogar. «¿Cómo ejerce José esta custodia? Con discreción, con humildad, en silencio, pero con una presencia constante y una fidelidad total, aun cuando no comprende» (Francisco, Homilía inicio pontificado). En la Iglesia, todos estamos llamados a cuidar de los demás, con ese mismo corazón de padre, de madre, de hermano.

Cuando a Jesús le preguntan si puede el hombre repudiar a la mujer por cualquier motivo, recuerda las palabras de la Escritura: "Por eso dejará el hombre a su padre y a su madre, y se unirá a su mujer y serán los dos una sola carne". Es un mensaje exigente, tanto que sus contemporáneos se resistieron a acogerlo... Y sin embargo abre también la puerta a una aventura maravillosa. El amor es una maravillosa aventura, y sería una pena dejársela arrebatar por una cultura individualista...
