Originally released on the R&S Records sub-label Global Cuts in 1993, ‘20HZ’ by Capricorn became the breakthrough track for its creator Hans Weekhout, a Dutch multi-instrumentalist who started his career recording and mixing for international artists such as Falco and Ian Gillan.

With its memorable combination of those rolling and thunderous marching drums, glacial marimba-like melodies and a tense, trance inducing atmosphere, ‘20HZ’ has become one of dance music’s most enduring tracks.  Hitting the singles charts in Holland, Belgium, UK and France on release, and still being played week in and week out across clubs and festivals thirty years later, it’s fair to say that Capricorn’s snare drum driven hit can be classed as a bone fide classic.

To commemorate the 30th anniversary of this behemoth anthem, R&S Records have enlisted an eclectic line-up of artists to add their own touches to a suite of remixes. Dutch composer and Apollo Records artist Andert Tysma reshapes ‘20HZ’ into a sublime ambient piece, accompanied by some tender piano work and soaring strings, whilst Italian DJ/producer Marco Lys stays true to the original, deploying a fresh and modern take and aiming it squarely at the dancefloor.

London based producer Vromm has a penchant for the UK bass and beats culture that has influenced him since the late 1980s, and his remix of ‘20HZ’ really spins the original upside down, deconstructing and rebuilding over granite hard beats.  And it’s left to legendary DJ Carl Cox to round off this broad remix package.  As a DJ who helped break this record on its original release, it’s befitting that the global dance icon puts his stamp firmly onto it, jacking up the drums and turning up a big room monster version, ‘oh yes, oh yes’!

Returning to Classic with his first solo original in 20 years, prolific producer and audio engineer Lance DeSardi unveils ‘Higher’, a three-track release featuring vocals from Jesse Rennix. A frequent studio partner of Luke Solomon, Lance DeSardi has collaborated with the label boss on numerous projects, including on Luke’s Powerdance project and Honey Dijon’s LP ‘Black Girl Magic’ which garnered significant media attention, appearing in The Guardian, Pitchfork, NME, The Line Of Best Fit and more. Now returning to the label, Lance DeSardi showcases his original sound alongside singer, songwriter and producer Jesse Rennix, an established dance vocalist who has released on Om Records, Wolf + Lamb and Legwork. Together the two create studio magic with their EP ‘Higher’, opening with the sultry and expansive title track, stuffed to brim with bright synth goodness as Jesse’s haunting vocals build with menacing intensity. Next up, Lance delivers the ‘Higher’ Space Dub, before ‘The Runaway (House Is A’ Pealin’)’ closes the release with its wickedly dark yet deliciously intense underground club sound.

Premiere: Trilucid, Brett Gould - The Purpose [Global Underground]

Trilucid teamed up with Brett Gould to release The Purpose in August 2025 — a progressive house bomb dropped via the peerless Global Underground. The track picked up support from a wide range of tastemakers including Guy J, Sven Väth, Quivver, Paul Thomas, Sister Bliss, Nick Muir, Braxton and many more.
Following the original release, Trilucid returned to the project with a darker, more underground interpretation. The result is The Purpose (Drum Dub), a moody, rolling, techno-infused rework featuring huge Zimmer-inspired stabs in the breakdown, providing a distinctive and cinematic take that pushes the track into deeper territory.

London-based DJ and producer Brett Gould has dedicated his life to house music. From a teenage residency at The Mud Club in Bagleys during the mid-’90s to acclaimed releases on respected imprints in recent years, Brett has firmly established his place within underground house.

Beatport Top 10s became the norm for Brett, who soon shared line-ups with his heroes, touring worldwide and across the UK with his energetic live performances and precision-engineered studio work. The deep, growling basslines, thundering backbeats and sheer danceability of his productions didn’t go unnoticed, earning him a reputation behind the decks through various residencies.

Brett’s biggest tracks included a four-month run in the Beatport Top 100, releases on legendary labels such as Solid Grooves, Snatch!, and Saved, and support from Pete Tong, Sasha, Jamie Jones, M.A.N.D.Y., Funk D’Void, and Nic Fanciulli — all leading to a Radio 1 airwave takeover with a “Lights On” guest mix for Monki.

With a life firmly on the up, Brett faced his biggest challenge yet: addiction. Now deep into recovery, and following a much-needed hiatus from the pressures of the music industry, Brett returned in 2025 with a new collaboration with Trilucid — released on the seminal Global Underground.
