i wrote this song because i have watched my father work his butt of in the coal mines for years to support his family. i want people to realize what kind of man he is but also to realize that i may not be following in his footsteps but i want my hard work to pay off as well. With all the layoffs going on right now in the coal mines i pray for everyone and their families that they will find work and continue to live the lives they have worked so hard for. This song may not be completely about the mines but it is damn sure about how i've seen my dad build a life with hard work and how i would like to do the same. "Coal Hearted" is a play off words but if you work hard and support your families, then you are "Coal Hearted". This one is for you West Virginia!

Brett Goff - Grind On Me (Prod. ProBeats)

Brett Michael Goff (Born March 11th, 1993) is an American Hip-Hop artist from Grant Town, West Virginia. He has always had a love for music and has written songs since he was able to talk. “I use to tell my mom how I would want the lyrics to go and she would write them down for me”. Brett was always a singer /song writer until the change in his teenage years when he realized that he couldn’t seem to carry a note any more. “I had to find a way to express myself vocally” Brett was bullied a lot during his freshmen year of high school and decided to transfer and have a fresh start, he found a love for Lacrosse and played during his sophomore and junior year at the new school. During this “fresh start” Brett became friends with a boy who was into Hip-Hop Music and was immediately intrigued by the “Flow” of the lyrics over a simple beat. Brett Posted his first song in 2010 and spent the next year trying to perfect his sound, personally he doesn’t think he succeeded. Then in February 2011, 18 year old Brett watched his parents split up after 20 years and start a divorce that wasn’t so easy for him and his family. During this time, trying to stay positive, he lost 3 friends to suicide. “It wasn’t about me or my family anymore at this point, it became about the community and the families of these guys. I see what it’s done to me; I can’t even imagine what there families go through every day” Brett took about 7 months off from music to try to keep his mind right. “I just remember not even wanting to express myself musically because I knew what I felt, I just didn’t want to hear myself talk about it.” In March of 2012, Brett recorded 3 songs. Two Months later an Entertainment Label contacted him about his career with music and only two weeks later Brett Moved to Pennsylvania to pursue his dream. In March of 2013, after some personal experiences, Brett moved home. He found himself lost and wasn’t sure if his dream of fortune and fame was in the cards he had been dealt.  He worked everywhere from a construction job to a sub shop until his Girlfriend said to him “Do what makes you happy, no matter what it I, and I’ll stand by you.“
Brett is now spending all his time building what he likes to call his “Empire", Goff Entertainment and is calling his fans “Fanily”, “It stands for Fan I Love You, but also, clearly comes from the word Family. So basically, If You’re Fanily Your Family… That’s the motto”. Brett also is starting a Bully Awareness Campaign called Raise Your Weapon and is involved with a Suicide Awareness Group Called Project SLB Foundation.
