Live At SR158 May 8, 2014

This is the first Cuddlebounce mix. 

Cuddlebounce was born out of a beautiful experience I had this summer in the Balearics where the party had completely wound down to only the people who truly loved the music. Instead of the dancing being the usual individualistic pursuit, everyone was essentially cuddled up on one another, shoulders touching shoulders, bouncing to the beat as a collective whole. 

The sound is essentially uplifting DEEP house.

This first Cuddlebounce is a concept mix. Love Lost was inspired by some of the more emotive songs that have spoken to me recently as I have had to navigate the ups and downs that life invariably throws our way.

This was a really special mix for me to put together. My hope is that this mix will make you feel something that will encourage you to welcome even more love into your life, whatever that might mean for you.

Cuddlebounce 003 A Shallow Dive

This mix was a part of my process in mourning the loss of a great friend. 

Dan and I always connected through music. 

Some of my greatest conversations with Dan were had when the music was so loud that no words were exchanged, we just communicated through the twinkle in our eyes, the movement of our bodies, and a smirk that said it all. 

I recorded this mix live, so its far from perfect, but thats the way I want it. Fun, mischievous, deep, messy, brilliant, a whirlwind- and an adventure in itself, just like Dan.

Play it loud and dont be afraid to dance. Dan would prefer it that way.

Sending love to all of those who's lives were touched by this brilliant man.

Cuddlebounce 004 - One More Dance with Dan Fredinburg

It was my 40th birthday on July 7th and Berlin was calling. It was the Zero takeover weekend at Kater and the crew was kind enough to let us put a 10 hour session on the lineup for Sunday morning on the infamous Kiosk stage. When we arrived the party had been going on already 40+ hours and wouldn't end for another 40. I was lucky enough to share the decks with dear friends @RICHE @Steveyricks and @Ry-X. 

It was almost 10 years to the day from the first time @thugfucker brought me there for the opening party and Kater has just gotten better and more special every time I've gone back. I couldn't think of a better place to celebrate.

I had the great pleasure of playing the closing DJ set to Summit At Sea 2015. 

More on that in a minute...

Summit At Sea 2015 featured moving and electric performances from bands like St. Lucia, Francis And The Lights and Twin Shadow, legends like Lee Fields, the youthful energy of emerging artists like Raury and Spencer Ludwig of Capital Cities-- who I counted playing with over 5 different acts, collaborating in real time with everyone from the Wailers to Thugfucker. He seemed to be everywhere, making something bespoke and one of a kind for those that happened to be in attendance. 

How was the electronic music though?

Bedouin played in the middle of the ocean surrounded by thunderstorms, with the occasional warm mist in the sultry carribean heat and lightning flashes popping off like strobe lights in the distance. 

A cotton candy sunrise greeted all who stuck around for Thugfucker's 4 hour storied set. The perfect soundtrack as we moved from the dark of night into a cotton candy sunrise bursting with purples, pinks and reds.. pure magic.

The rest of the weekend featured world class sets from Eduardo Castillo, Mira, Sabo, LUM, Goldcap, Timujin, Lumerian and The Scumfrog. We were truly spoiled. 

On the last night, I played for an hour and then cut my set short to try something I have wanted to do for a while, DJ Teamwork. Basically bring together a lot of great dj's to create the party b2b2b....as a team, one track at a time. 

What happened was amazing.

A 2 hour audiophonic journey that spanned soul, r&b, throwback electronica, techno and deep house cuts.

Happy Summer to all of you wonderful humans!

It took a year, but I'm finally writing you again to say hello, check in and to share some music.

This year, I have been consumed in the best possible way with our mission at Summit and really figuring out what we can do to take everything to the next level and use community as a tool to drive more widespread positive change in peoples lives and the world at large.

That left little to no time to play music and find tracks that inspired me.

But eventually the music got back into my brain and then into my heart and I had to put something together to use the tracks I found to tell a story I think is worth hearing.

Also to give you all something to listen to on all of your long haul flights to exotic sun filled destinations, hopefully!

I hope to see you all soon, on a dance floor, a beach, a mountain, a boat...anywhere really.

Brett was born in Boston but his passion for electronic music comes from his formative years where he was living everywhere from Tel Aviv to Amsterdam, Berlin to Barcelona, Malibu to Manhattan and his travels everywhere in between. 

His sound is rooted in the intersection of world music, natural instrumentation and electronica. In his live sets, intellectual electronic music meets the eclectic selections of a child who was a product of America's 1980's and 90's culture of convergence where a wide range of influences can be felt through the thoughtful catalogue of re-works and edits of nostalgic tracks that somehow feel brand new.  

Brett now lives in Eden, Utah, population 800, in the great American west where he is building a small town atop Powder Mountain that supports entrepreneurial and artistic achievment through the community he founded called Summit.
