Summit Sessions 248 (August 2018)

This set is mostly a retrospective.  Last month I played Upstairs Lounge in St. Louis where this was recorded.  Upstairs is locally notorious as a place to arrive late, and this was 10PM, so I intentionally picked out tracks that I really really wanted to hear on a big system.  This mix isn't entirely dancefloor ready, but that was by design.    I really enjoyed mixing it, I hope you enjoy listening to it!

Slow Burn

All, something a little different this time.  I was asked to play with a lineup of house DJs 

so I went deep into my collection pulling some of my favorite tracks from over the years 

that made sense for that set.  Winter in St. Louis has been exceptionally snowy and cold 

this year so I wanted something that would feel much more like the old Terrace at Space-

One of the things that's kept me away from continuing to make shows is a lack of time to do so.  Given the global pandemic, well, we all have a lot more time at home now.  This mix definitely doesn't hold back on the emotional start, but hopefully it helps you work through some of things weighing you down, it certainly did for me.

Summit Sessions 255 (5/1/20)

An offering to stimulate the senses, this journey focuses on one wild night as felt by Brian Bacchus at the kaZantip Festival.  Starting with a beautiful sunset over the Black Sea, we move quickly into the euphoria of midnight. Bodies move in unison as we explore the twisted beats of the darkest hours together.  Safely navigating the perils of the night we emerge, once again, into the beautiful daylight only to be greeted by all the promise and vigor the daylight hours may bestow. SUMMIT SESSIONS NOW AIRS MONTHLY!

In 2011 Brian Bacchus started Summit Sessions at the request of a friend for a monthly mix.  At the time the show circulated around just a few dozen people at best.

Fast forward to 2017 and the show had grown to a 2 hour long weekly spot, syndicated across multiple great internet radio stations.  Through internet broadcasts, this profile, RSS, and other social media, Summit Sessions reached out to more than 300,000 listeners per week in over 200 countries!

Beginning in 2018, Summit Sessions returned to airing monthly to an entirely on-demand audience (SoundCloud, MixCloud, iTunes, etc.).  

The success of the show can be attributed to the incredible quality of the guests- both Brian's local St. Louis friends to international touring household names- Summit Sessions is always about delivering exceptional, meaningful music.

Of course, this didn't all begin in 2011.  Brian has been DJing since 1999 with residences at large venues in San Francisco, the UK, Omaha, and Las Vegas.
