The first of many pieces bearing the title "Absynth Chronicles".  I've been using Absynth by Native Instruments for a number of pieces.  This piece is freely structured, moment form, and explores particular recurrent intervallic combinations and sets.  The piece is written as a successor to other pitch-determinate synthesizer pieces of yesteryear, such as Babbitt's Philomel or Wuorinen's Time's Encomium.

This piece was composed for Absynth 5 synthesizer and is written in memory of the late composer Charles Wuorinen.  It was inspired by his own seminal work Time's Encomium, a half-hour pitch-determinate piece for synthesizer in two parts, which won a Pulitzer Prize.  This piece, Absynth Chronicles XIV, is therefore a half-hour pitch-determinate piece for synthesizer in two parts.
