"Birds of Prey" is the first e.p of UK based music producer Rebecca Broadbent (aka China Rose) under her techno moniker Malificent. 

The e.p features two tracks inspired by the post-pandemic world in which everything appears to be a fight for survival. Both tracks embody a driving, dark energy encapsulated within brooding, atmospheric sonic landscapes.

Solid percussion is the bedrock of both tracks. Dirty distorted elements give the music a sense of edge. Melancholy melodies are implied throughout. Low basslines and industrial elements give the tracks a warehouse feel. 

"Birds of Prey" musically is a return to where Rebecca's love of electronic dance music began in the early 2000s - the indoor club scene. 

"Birds of Prey" will be available from all major music platforms to stream or download from 21st August 2024.

Malificent is the new dark techno project from UK based musician and music producer Rebecca Broadbent, aka China Rose. 

Conceived at a point in human history where destruction and darkness are rife, Malificent was born in a shadowy dystopian world. Dark atmospheres and eerie ambiences are combined with driving and brooding energy. Melancholic and hypnotic melodies together with tonal and industrial elements are implied throughout Malificent's tech-laden soundscapes. 

Never afraid to venture into the darker realms of the human experience, the music of Malificent explores themes of nihilism, existentialist thought and feminine rage.
