Last Sunday I played with my son Charlie at the All Scottish Fleadh where lots of young people (and some older) compete to win through to the All British Fleadh. This is one of the tunes we played in the bodhran competition. All players in the competition were great but I was chuffed to see Charlie win!

The Melbost Bard wrote this song after his nephew moved to Tong from Melbost. He missed him greatly. The verses here convey the happiness that he brought him and how life seemed empty without him closeby. The bard, in his own inimitable way, makes links to the politics of the day, pleading to those in power to change their ways to allow for a peaceful, safer future.

Lament on the predicament of the Member of the European Parliament for South East England

Brian Ó hEadhra is an established and highly acclaimed musician & singer based in Inverness in the Highlands of Scotland.  He performs regularly with the Gaelic singing quartet Cruinn - www.cruinn.net.  Brian also performs with the trio McKerron, Brechin & Ó hEadhra.  

Brian also performs as a solo singer-songwriter (in Scottish Gaelic & English) and also with his wife, the prestigious Gaelic & English language singer-songwriter Fiona Mackenzie.  His music is possibly best known across the folk world through the band Anam which he established in 1994.  Anam, as a band ceased in 2005.  

Over the years he has brought out eight albums with different acts including a solo album of his songs called 'Life'. Brian sings and writes songs in English, Irish and Scottish Gaelic. His latest album was released in January 2011 and is entitled: An t-Allt.  

Apart from his music, Brian is the Scottish Gaelic Arts & Culture Officer for Bòrd na Gàidhlig & Creative Scotland.
