Sone is DJ and producer from the USA, based in Seattle. In the mid and late 90's Sone experienced with live music in the underground punk scene in Wisconsin. Later on he switched guitars for electronic sounds and entered the Techno scene. With the same energy and ethos of his early experiences, Sone now plays the decks and produces driving Techno.
Sone started producing in 2008 and explored a more heavier, stripped down sound. His original productions and remixes have received support from Ben Sims, Reggy van Oers, Joachim Spieth, Juho Kusti, TWR72, Soolee, and many others. He runs his own label, From 0-1, together with his long time friend Milkplant. Sones tracks are released on his own label and on other labels such as Android Muziq, Webuildmachines, Rheostatus, and Darknet.

Episode 215 - Sone

We are proud to present 13 years of From 0-1. The Techno music scene has changed immensely in the last 13 years, but our mission remains the same... release high quality dancefloor tracks, designed to move the body and stimulate the mind, while choosing to work with the most genuine artists we encounter. This compilation celebrates 13 quality artists we respect and admire around the world. We see the effect of Techno music as a global phenomenon. It shatters borders, and eliminates barriers between us, ultimately bringing us closer to each other. Without it, we may never have made connections and struck friendships with the artists represented in this release. Beyond all the Instagram superstardom, pay-to-play relationships, flashy nonsense, and ghost produced who-gives-a-shit tracks, there is still a solid and vibrant core of artists worldwide working day in and day out to keep it real. A small cross section of those artists are represented right here. With the end of the pandemic in sight, we know you are all eager to get back into the club. We wish you a quick and rapid rebound from all of this as soon as possible, and hope these tracks make your bass bins bang. Thank you so much for your support these last 13 years. Vexed Sphere is proud to present its first vinyl release, 'VS4 - Various Artists', featuring four techno producers based in North America. On the A side, Müzmin (San Francisco) delivers 'Acid Sag', a peak-time, twisting, mental, stomping frenzy, and JX-216 (San Francisco) provides a thunderous, percussive drum workout with 'Argenteum'. FadeFace (NYC) opens the B side with 'Dispatch', an infectious, intercosmic groove, and Sone (Seattle) closes the record with 'Serriform', a thick, tension-building, subterranean roller.

For our 38th release we are very happy to present, 'Momentum'. A various artist EP featuring four floor focused techno tracks from Operator (UK), A Thousand Details, Sone, and U-SRD. From the UK, 

Operator opens up the record with 'Enceladus Outpost', driving and mental per his trademark sound. Seattle artist Sone, continues the expansive, heady theme with 'Accretion'. On the flip side, Portuguese artist A Thousand Details, delivers the goods with Treyarch Sentient, raw and powerful. Lastly San Francisco duo U-SRD present 'Not Everything You See Is Real', pounding and stripped back.

Sone - Accretion

Seattle/San Francisco based Techno label, From 0-1 issue "Time Dilation", a 12" vinyl/digital EP by label director, and co-owner Milkplant (Justin Pennell) of the San Francisco Bay Area. Andrei Morant and From 0-1 co-owner Sone join in as remixers. Including an endless groove and two locked grooves, this piece of vinyl is meant to be as utilitarian for the vinyl DJ as possible. Dimension 4 starts off the EP with a classic big room percussive Techno vibe, closing in an endless groove. Following is Andrei Morant's absolutely punishing treatment of Dimension 4, a tearing lead, and searing percussion point to the main room. Two locked grooves, one percussive, the other synth based close out side '0'. On the flip side, 1, Milkplant's Spherical reps a tight future-retro vibe; elements of old Motor City Techno dominate with a bit of grit to keep it dirty. Sone dials in a perfect toned down, more expansive, and hypnotic interpretation of Spherical showcasing slowly evolving filters and modulation fit for the wee hours of the morning. Plasmic is included as a digital extra in this release a tough, noisy, and a little tripped out with a bit of swing to keep them on the floor.

Garrett Dillon and Margin Walker collaborate on an intense piece that reveals the beauty in their contrast of styles resulting in hard hitting techno with that dub vibe. We welcome back Sone on remix duties and for good reason. His style and precision represent a perfect blend that give this mix a style of it's own with respect to the original. Hailing from Sydney AU, Squarepeg delivers his first remix. His unique flavor and gear oriented performance brings in new aspects of acid and percussion that take this mix to new territory.

"As a co-owner of From 0-1 Records Sone has built a solid reputation as a master of tension-building, slow-burning, deep Techno. 'Pick Sides' delivers a thick spread of that late night vibe in the vein that has made his name. The 'Pick Sides' single includes remixes from Terrence Dixon (Tresor / Metroplex), Complicit (JQM), and Dreek Sol (Audio Autopsy / Tekx). Complicit approach the track with a focus on the dancefloor outfitting the original with a couple new release valves. Dreek Sol explores dark margins of the original finding new spaces and vacuum-formed structures. Veteran Detroit minimalist Terrence Dixon closes the release with a stripped down take on the original that keeps the essence of the original while delivering the bare bones, uncompromising style he's known for."

We welcome the Credo label boss, Alex Bau to From 0-1; he delivers a masterpiece of deep, pensive energy in his edit of ‘Physical Language’.
Operator, one of the UK’s finest kept secrets sent us an absolutely massive interpretation of Physical Language.
Another warm welcome to From 0-1 for Diego Amura from Naples. He remixed Physical Language in the spirit of his signature banging, heady style.
San Francisco artist JX-216 (aka Milkplant), takes a heavy psychedelic approach to his remix of ‘Reflection’; while Seattle artist, Sone reinterprets ‘Depressive Section’ with his driving, mesmerizing design.

For our 30th release in our catalog we welcome LA based Techno producer, Secus; aka ½ of the duo Motionen to From 0-1 for his debut EP. He co-runs the well respected Ascetic Ltd label out of his LA base, and brings that flavor to us in his debut Alpha EP. Diminished Dreams and Elevation both hold a mental tension perfect for focusing cerebral energy on the dancefloor. Quantify dips into deeper trippy territory, with Seattle artist, and From 0-1 co-founder Sone amping up the drive factor in his spacious reinterpretation of Quantify.

Sone is Seattle, Washington based DJ and producer Brian Sonnleitner. His first exploits into live music was being immersed in the underground punk scene in Wisconsin during the mid/late 90's. Fast forward to now, while keeping the same energy and ethos of his early experiences, Brian is a DJ of well over a decade with his sets trending towards the driving and tracky side of techno.

2008 brought Sone into the realm of production with his music exploring a heavier, stripped down sound. His original productions and remixes have received support from Ben Sims, Reggy van Oers, Joachim Spieth, Juho Kusti, TWR72, Soolee, and many others.
