British electronica duo Left of Manila, Ed Bentley and Mish Pharaon, craft an idiosyncratic world mixing hypnotic rhythms with lush, synthesized landscapes and mantric vocals that combine for a left-of-centre sonic that borders the dance and listening spectrums with ease and their latest release, ‘Africa on My Mind’, is as sonically intergalactic and expansive as they come. 

It features synthesizer from Tom Adams and is co-written by Ghanaian Londoner Jeff Darko who also offers up his striking falsetto vocal on the track. Lyrically it explores the longing to be home and to connect with geographically distant loved ones, a feeling experienced acutely by both Left of Manila and African-born Darko. As the latter explains, [it’s about] “Where I was born and is essentially a reflection of my upbringing. It’s important to never erase where we come from”.

Franco-German DJ and producer from Berlin, Franz Matthews takes the original on a psychedelic ride, remixing the track with his sleek, dancefloor focussed sonics. From warming drum machines that dish out the metric groove to the layers of original guitars and vocal that Franz has paired with immaculate synths and creative sound design. A beautiful dancefloor moment in the making that will find home in clubs and festivals alike.

Forestronika Lebanon is back in full swing! 45-min drive away from Beirut up & then back down the Chouf mountains towards the river, nestled in a little valley with everyone coming for a good escape from the usual. 
First sunset of this 3-day festival started off going from deep to afro/melodic as the sunlight faded away and the stage lights slowly came on. 
I'm a sucker for sunsets and sunrises ;)
