It Was Always You

“Floating” is a soft sensual song about an unexpected love affair that takes my full attention. It brings out a deep lust and insatiable craving that I’ve never felt before. Diving myself deeper into what felt like might have been love, even if it was only for a moment. This love temporarily takes me to cloud 9, relieving me from all of my doubts and worries. Afterwards, left floating in a daze longing for more.

“Daydream” takes place in a playful, euphoric space in my mind. This upbeat and dreamy fantasy is my explanation of where I go when I drift off. Lost inside this world, though I feel safe and secure, it’s a habit I realize I need to break because staying in this “safe place” isn’t a healthy way to overcome my difficulties and problems. Avoiding these underlying issues is something many of us face, and I want this song to provide positive light on the subject.

“I’m Sorry” a short interlude written when I came to the realization of the role that I played in the destruction of a relationship. Coming to the understanding of self detriment, when it comes to the one you love and not wanting to let go is a soul trapping and selfish act for everyone involved. This is my apology to myself for being selfish. This is also my celebration to coming to terms with letting go of an unhealthy relationship and introducing positive growth.

“Doing me wrong”, is an upbeat song, portraying my story of a strained relationship. Between myself and the person I'd loved and given my world. Letting you into my experience of wondering how this person could choose another girl over me. This is my way of processing the jealousy, feelings of betrayal and lying, while knowing all along, this wasn’t right from the start.

“Make you mine” is a vibrant, lovey-dovey song about my infatuation with a guy I started falling for. Expressing my need for this person’s attention and physical presence in my day to day life, while being unable to fully grasp why or how this person has a hold on me. All the while, loving every moment spent together and creating a fantasy in my head of making this person solely mine.

Briana Piedra is a Singer-Songwriter hailing from Los Angeles, CA. With roots from both Costa Rica and the United States, Briana’s upbringing took place in the dynamic city of Portland, OR. 

Briana's love for music began at an early age, as she discovered her passion for songwriting when she was just 11. Immersing herself in the world of music, she found joy in expressing her creativity through captivating melodies and heartfelt lyrics. 

The year 2019 marked a pivotal moment in Briana's career as she released her breakthrough single, "Something to Believe In," igniting the start of her blossoming journey.
