This mix is 100% PRIDE, unapologetic queerness and femininity, hits we missed out on last year, and reps artists and community icons that we love. I had so much fun planning it, but that was only half the magic last Friday night. Y’all delivered the rest in love, glitter, and heat.

We also hit that dance floor so hard, the circuit boards were sweating 🥴🔌💦 so I extended the recording of this set and added a few bonus tracks, to give you the full juicy experience and make up for any technical snags the night of.

Happy Valentine’s Day 💝 ‘i love you’ is inspired by love (duh), those brief romantic connections on the dance floor, my progress (?) in ED recovery, and my first Honcho CampOut experience last year 🥀

This is an indirect sequel to ‘recovery’, a set from last winter. Both began as creative outlets to channel my emotions, frustration, and exhaustion maneuvering anorexia and body dysmorphia: over time, this set morphed into a lil sonic ‘thank you’ to the support base around me.

The love and care I receive from my family and friends helps me literally get out of bed on the difficult days. The unique magic that happens when we all come together on a dance floor is a moment in time where my body is beautiful to me, has value, isn’t questioned or ridiculed by this voice in my head. Dancing and DJing have been therapeutic for me, and I find that therapy the most in dance spaces that place queerness and individuality at the forefront.

While self love is something that I’ll continue to work on, shared love has no end in either of these places in my life. I’m thankful for all of it while tackling these repetitive mental health challenges that I admittedly thought I had a better hold of last year.

As much as I enjoy showcasing a mainstream sound, it feels freeing to creatively flex something underground-ish on occasion. I hope this set makes you move just as much as the others, and I hope the love I put into it stays with you. Like that speck of glitter from someone you locked eyes with on the dance floor the night before ✨

i love you. - 2/14/2022

Surprise 🎁 I recorded two new mixes. While ‘i love you’ is lighter and more effervescent, ‘love yourself’ is bolder, more aggressive and urgent.

Self love is a fickle thing. We spend our lives trying to validate value in ourselves without realizing the value already exists: the relationship I have with myself is no exception. My anorexia stems from hating what I see in the mirror, and acting on dangerous behaviors to change it. And though I completed ED treatment over two years ago, I’m realizing there may be no “end” to the process for me; this loud, manipulative thing may be chronic, and whatever healing process I have may last my entire life.

That realization has been…exhausting for me.

While many aspects of LGBTQ+ community helped me flourish at a young age, I’ll be first to admit that blatant body image expectations in the community amplified destructive behaviors that got me where I am today. But queer-centered dance communities have been a safe haven. Dance floors liberated of society’s hetero-binary expectations can help heal, inspire, and cultivate genuine celebrations for who we are as queer individuals and our bodies. I say this from personal experience.

Queer dance spaces hold three truths that’ve paralleled my recovery journey: perfection is an imperfect concept, genuine community love heals, and our lives are too criminally short to shrink ourselves. These spaces will remain necessary, even sacred, for so many folks finding who they are beyond societal pressures and binaries, when it feels unsafe or difficult to do so anywhere else.

I’m still maneuvering what Loving Yourself ™️ means between influencer affirmation posts, RuPaul quotes, brief selfie validation, and the deconstruction of my imposter syndrome. The answer’s not in any of that. Maybe it’s not finite, like I thought recovery was: maybe I’ll be trying to figure this out for the rest of my life. 

Regardless of the answer, I find a place to recover in music, either in the DJ booth or on the dance floor. And for me that’s self love 🌱

This set was dropped just after the midnight countdown. It’s both a “this is my vibe” kinda moment in my artistic direction as a DJ, and a personal love letter to all the glittery, sweaty, silly, champagne-soaked queer chaos from the evening.

A lil mainstream, a lil underground. Some revving techno, some euphoric trance, a hint of disco. A bit of the sexy, a bit of the unexpected. Hits from the year, hits from the past. A couple “oh this is a NYE song” moments. Some ‘FIRED UP!’ CD inspo. 15 minutes of mashup calamity. And an added extra 20 minutes to the original set as a treat.

🌅 SOLSTICE 🏖️ a summer-inspired journey featuring my set from RENDEZVOUS on Saturday, 7.22.2023

TLDR: I got high last Tuesday, recorded my full set from RENDEZVOUS, then kept going and didn’t stop until 5ish hours later 🤸🏼‍♂️

This one’s from my lil gay summer-loving heart. A combination of ideas and elements carried from a variety of gigs the past year. Partially revealed at Rendezvous, finally completed last week after an 🍃💨inspired💨🍃 evening walk outside. The length of this set should take close to the amount of time it takes to drive from here to the Atlantic Ocean 🐋

* I wasn’t aware it would be this long (I lost track of time when I recorded 🫠), and dividing this into parts would be like cutting a painting in half just so it could fit on the wall. So it stays the way it is. 🎁

Inspired by:
- being gay and silly on a beach;
- blood-red sunsets hazy from wildfire smoke;
- the fireflies that come out on warm evenings in the South Wedge every June-July;
- fancy charcuterie boards, and Rocket Pop-flavored Twisted Tea;
- too much sweat from many nights dancing in crowded rooms;
- slowing down more;
- kissing my friends more;
- going outside and touching grass (literally, figuratively);
- summer crushes that will last longer than the rest of the season;
- the odd statement that “nature is therapy” when nature is intrinsically engrained within our selves but separated from us by a capitalistic society, and “being in nature” is just going back home;
- my love for trance, 90’s/early 2000’s dance music, and all things balearic and beachy in sound;
- erratic weather patterns causing the slightest bit of climate anxiety;
- gay rage felt from another year of sly phobic politics and amplified violent rhetoric;
- gigs spinning alongside Dorianne Gay and Elliott Pitt, and the creative inspiration that comes with it;
- all of our Buffalo sisters and Buddy Buddy friends;
- memories of summer vacations to the ocean as a kid with my family;
- comfortably and confidently having my shirt off in public more, post-ED treatment / recovery;
- this cute life we live in Western NY that always amplifies with energy and love every summer 💐

Rendezvous: SOLSTICE - 7.22 / 7.25

Inspired by autumn, romance, and falling for it while the leaves fall. 69 tracks (that’s on purpose!) cozied into one three-hour session from a late September weekend. Some bits from my set at our last Rendezvous of the year (9.17.2023) held at Genesee Valley Park.

Fall brings on a unique nostalgia for me. Music evocative of decades prior, tracks and genres heavy in instrumentation, an intentional softness. Pianos, flutes, strings, synths, jazz, swelling wistful melodies between emotional key pairings.

The change in season also inspires feelings of new love. Holding hands in big coats under bright foliage. Cool crisp nights spent warm and sultry indoors. The excited whimsy of feeling butterflies; the subtle fear of uncertainty.

The ‘love song’ selection, samples, and romantic references are intentional; the rest is new, newly discovered, or speaking to the season for me. The opener is a personal favorite, the ending to Sergei Rachmaninoff’s Concerto No. 2 Adagio sostenuto: piano carries floating leaves to the ground, strings send you soaring into the sky. The closer is a particular sunrise moment at Honcho Campout this year 🍁
