For the third episode of Groove Theory, I am releasing my April 28th, 2023 recording from StereoBar. This venue has a very special energy that sparks electricity in the air. It allows me to express my musical narrative and connect with the crowd. That night was truly magical. Allow me to share it with you.

Born in Medellín, Colombia, Daniel Tobón M. A.K.A Alpha Hz has been drawn to minimalist rhythms since 2006, influenced by artists like Marco Carola, Marc Houle, and John Acquaviva. 🎶

In 2010, he began his journey into music production, experimenting with his own sounds and blending genres like Minimal and Jazz. Six years later, he co-founded Minemal Records, which has become home to underground artists in Medellín. 💿

Alpha Hz's performances are infused with Minimal, Microhouse, Rominimal, and Deep Techno, always carrying that hypnotic style he's known for. 🚀 From Club 1984 to Petrona Disco, his sets have graced notable venues across the city. 🌃

Currently residing in Madrid, Spain, Alpha Hz leads Minemal Records, working on new productions with his colleagues. His latest EP, "Imagi-Nation," showcases his minimalist and Deep Techno essence. 🎶✨

We are excited to welcome Australian artist Moontide to the Earthly Measures family with his truly beautiful EP 'Dreams Within Dreams' including remixes from Kusht and ourselves.

Dreams Within Dreams is built entirely from field recordings captured in churches, temples, and other places of ritual. The EP marks Moontide's use of exclusively analog synthesisers for the drums and melodies, which respond to these recorded environments.

The work explores the acoustic properties of these intentional spaces, their reverbs, silences, and ambient textures. Each track layers these field recordings with analog synthesis, creating compositions that exist somewhere between documentation and interpretation.

Brian is a Canadian-born Romanian who has always had a deep connection with music. Having picked up his first DJ controller 15 years ago, his evolution of mixing through different genres of music, from hip-hop, to rock, to EDM, and more, helped define his taste and his current sound.

It’s all about the groove. Whether it’s house, minimal, deep house, or tech house, Brian likes to take the crowd on a journey with eclectic grooves, punchy basslines, and crisp percussions that bring the best dance moves out of everyone. His mission? Sharing positivity with people through music. Nothing brings him more pleasure than seeing the crowd enchanted and dancing with one another. 

In April of 2023, Brian launched his own podcast and event series: Groove Theory. GT's mission is to celebrate the art of house and minimal music. Every month, Brian invites a different artist to showcase their unique sound. These artists will intricately dissect their creative system and express themselves through rhythms, beats, and melodies that will make both experienced and casual dancers move to the groove.
