Short Description:
This one's for my baby girl. I love her to the moon and back.

Long Description:
My creative process for this piece began with listening through all of the samples we had to work with and seeing which ones grabbed my attention. The first section I wrote was that "main hook" that comes in right after the intro. I felt like it would be important to really feature the sax loop front and center since the contest was all about Bob's amazing samples. After that, I thought about how to get into that hook I'd written and the idea of using "real life" sounds with the music muffled under a low pass filter seemed pretty interesting. The drop in the middle of the song felt kinda risky because it was so different from the existing music that I thought it might sound out of place. But I'm learning to trust my musical instincts (you should too!) and not overthink stuff so I decided to run with it anyways and now it's my favorite part of the track. I actually wrote another drop before that but ended up scrapping it because it really was out of place. I used some automation on the reverb and again on a low pass filter to bring the hook from "outer space" back to "earth". And then, I put different harmonies underneath the main hook to keep things interesting at the end. Shoutout to my wife (who's also a musician), who gave me the idea to put the half tempo main hook over the drop. A sincere "thank you" to God for giving us the ability to create and express life through music. And a big thanks to Native Instruments!
