Song written for an old friend. She traveled all over Texas, Tennessee and Arkansas with me. I called her my road cat. She hated everyone else, but she loved my old rotten ass like no one else.

That Old Cat

This song I wrote one night on the way out of Nashville. I was getting divorced, I had lost my job with a publishing company. I was just pissed off at the world, so I got in my truck and took off for Texas. In the middle of the night between Arkansas and Texas, the radio station played two songs back to back, that I had gotten artists to record. Ed Bruce "Quietly Crazy", and Reba McIntire "If you only Knew" I almost turned around, what is the chance of hearing two album cuts back to back? I thought God was talking to me, or just screwing with me? Who Knows. When I got back to Texas, I realized I did not have the money to go back. It took me 3 years before I made it back, but I made it dammit!!!

The Gone Side Of Goodbye

This song eventually, came from a poem I had written a couple of years back. I was going to this class at church, called "A Course In Miracles" which someone had rightly called it "one big mind fuck". It was a class on the Metaphysical. It was very interesting to me. It talked about how "my reality", is very different from "your reality". Because we each see our world through only our perceptions. We saw and understood things happening around us through the things we had experienced, felt and endured in our lifetime. So, reality is really just our private illusion. See!!! One Big Mind Fuck. I liked the course, but I wrote the poem to impress a girl there, why else? When I gave it to her she didn't understand a thing I had written. I wonder what her reality looks like? Oh well. I was fortunate enough to have the song chose for a scene in the movie, "Surge of Power, Revenge of the Sequel" Who’s reality looks better now????

Beauty Or Illusion

This song is fun. It is basically a true story. Like I have said, "the truth writes itself". An old buddy of mine in Nashville, was house sitting for David Alan Coe. He called me up and said, come over, let's party. Oh, Hell yea!!! It was on. We were sitting around Coe's big old house, drinking like always. Next thing I know, Johnny comes driving out of Coe's Garage in his big old Excaliber. I had never even seen a car like that. I hopped in and we took off through Nashville to a big dance hall. As we were pulling in in Coe's car, these two girls saw us, and latched right on. They were not ugly, I don't think? We were pretty drunk by then. So we danced and drank with them a while. We would go off in different directions and dance with others, but we always wound back up with them, especially at closing time. We all got in our cars and headed for Coe's house. The rest is blurry, but I am pretty sure of what happened. After that, Me and Johnny always said the secret was to go ugly early!!!! Johnny even told me one day, hey, I ran in to old ugly early again. I said, don't tell me you did it again. He said,  Why not!!! I tried to get Johnny to write it with me, but he was busy with family and sick parents. So here it is!
