In episode one of CODED, we dive into early forms of queer language and how it has impacted queer communities from 17th, 18th, and 20th century London, England.

Coded forms of language and dress not only allowed entry into restricted clubs that served as safe spaces, but also were identifying markers themselves, working to maintain a sense of community and safety out in the world. 

Existing in plain sight as a form of silent rebellion which began as codes and secret safe spaces formed for survival, but has since evolved into a lexicon of resilience that is still alive, breathing, and evolving today.
