This a set recreated from what I played at Opulent Temple, Wednesday Night @ 2:30AM - Burning Man 2022 - Sacred Dance ('the white party'). These are the tracks in the order that I played them and mixed far better than how I mixed them live.  Yep, no shame here.  I came on after John Summit played a roaring 2 hour prime time set. I was told "it met the moment", given that Carl Cox and John Summit played back to back before I stepped on. 

Expect big rolling psy infuenced bassline production. Some soulful infused lyrics and melodic chord progressions throughout.

BRIAN PEEK - 2023 White Party SF

In 2015 I took time off from gigging out. It was the first year I took a major hiatus from DJing since I began in 2003. I played two gigs throughout the year. One time at Burning Man. The second time was what you will hear in this episode of the Opulent Temple podcast. Inspired from my set on the playa, but curated for one of the best parties to be at on NYE in San Francisco. For the 100th episode of the OT podcast you might expect to hear a playa set from any number of international touring djs/artists who have played prime time at Opulent Temple. Not to worry, there are plenty more episodes for that offering of Opulence ahead. For EP100 we are keeping it in the family, with a mix by 8 year Opulent resident and OT podcast creator, Brian Peek. This mix is a recreation (sorry, forgot to hit record as it happened the first time) of his closing set from last week's Halloween party at the Armory.  For those who were not there, picture a dimly lit victorian style mansion, blood red carpet, dark oak floors, sweaty San Francisco party goers in spooky-kink attire, ready for proper beat delivery. Playing the white party for Opulent Temple at Burning Man continues to be any DJs dream gig to play. After 10 years playing for OT the music experiences only get better and better, and the community that supports our cause only becomes more powerful and respectful to our request for Sacred Dance. Props to the Opulent Temple and Burning Man community for coming out to support our 16th burn. 

Per my usual style of beat selections, you can expect prominent bass lines (often rolling), filtered house aesthetics, urban styled MC vocal cuts, heavy grooves with jackin' funky sizzle on top. This year I indulged by including some of my favorite vocal tracks of 2017 & 2018. Clubby soulful house divas stacked up with the rolling underground sound most fond to my heart. For context, this set was  before my OT homie, Grammer, and headliner ZHU. Enjoy!

This is my set remade from the Opulent Temple take over at Sonic Soul Tribe's stellar sound camp. What a banging system to play on!  It was a Thursday night and this was the opening set before Rufus Du Sol. By far it was my musical highlight at Burning Man this year.  When I found out I was opening for them I searched high and low for music I thought people would want to hear on playa before experiencing the feel good vibes of Rufus.  You'll hear a selection of well paced dreamy rollers, melodic deep house with funky arpeggio bass lines, and a deep techno remix of a rave classic before handing it over.

This set was recorded live at the Midway in San Francisco. This was my first set of the year playing to a real live audience in front of me (in the flesh), dancing, drinking....the whole nine.  Daytime sunset vibes into early evening....fresh out of COVID lockdown.

Brian Peek, 10 year resident DJ and core member with Opulent Temple, is no newcomer to the industry.  Rocking prime size crowds in San Francisco and across the West Coast since 2003, Brian focuses on mixing the highest quality of tunes across his full range of groove-centric bass line tech house, filtered house, & chilled downtempo.  

Starting out hosting his own weekly radio show on his college radio station.  Soon after, he began promoting regular events with Thump Radio and producing syndicated radio shows for commercial FM, XM Satellite, and podcasts.  In 2009, he was invited to join Opulent Temple, including a prestigious DJ residency and contributions to artistic metal fabrications for the longest running large scale sound camp in Burning Man history.  In addition, he plays a significant role as executive producer of the Opulent Temple Podcast.  

Without a doubt, Brian Peek as a DJ & radio producer taste maker delivers the full package in skill, talent, and undeniable passion for all flavors of electronic music. He is a true professional who takes his craft seriously and has provided performance support for some of the globe's most well-known jocks, like Zhu, Carl Cox, Infected Mushroom, Lee Burridge, Elite Force, Meat Katie, Hyper, General Midi, Stanton Warriors, Uberzone and more.
