Motion Notion 2013 - Live DJ Set

Here's the live recording of my DJ set that I performed at the yearly Psytribe Spring Frequency event in April 2021. It was a transitional set, from 11pm-1am on Saturday night, after an amazing techno set by Dela Moon. Starting at 130bpm, I gradually built it the energy up to 144bpm over the course of a fantastic 2 hour journey that felt amazing. Especially because it was the first, proper party I had participated in since the pandemic and my country began taking a positive path again. Much love and thanks to everyone who was a part of that moment, and to you for listening and sharing in it with me. I'll try to post a tracklisting in a few months, once I've given the unreleased tracks I played some time to get released!

Spring Frequency 2021

Recorded live at a Sunday day party in Woodley Park, Los Angeles, for my friend Daniel Lostoyz's birthday. It was a great time, lots of fun in the sun for friends and family. I had a blast with this set, most of which consisted of tracks released on the incredible Stereo Society music label!

Psytribe Reflections May 30 2021

It was a family and friends affair, a birthday party for one of my favorite Israeli friends in the world, and it was so good to dance outdoors in the sunshine again, and reconnect with my psytrance familia of Los Angeles again, after multiple pandemic interference over the last 2 years.

They asked me to headline and close the party, for the sunset. I of course said yes, and put together a set that had me, many times, dancing just as hard, behind the decks, as the party goers on the other side of the DJ table were dancing.

Wow, Ozora Festival 2022... What an incredible experience. Located in Hungary during the first week of August, it was one of the highlights of the 2022 festival season. After a 2+ year pandemic that caused the cancelation and delay of almost all musical gatherings across the globe, 2022 marked the return to dancefloors again, and we were once again able to reunite with old friends, and make new ones.

I was both excited and honored in late 2019 when I was originally asked by the Ozora organizers to DJ the main Ozora Stage. And after waiting 2.5 years, I was finally able to experience one of the best DJ gigs of my life. It happened on August 2nd, and lasted 90 minutes, from 11:30am to 1:30pm,  and it was something I will never forget. Performing on that stage, to such a huge crowd of thousands of smiling, energetic psytrance fans, I had a blast the whole time. If you were there, I hope you enjoyed yourself. Ozora Festival 2022

Wow, what a welcome to Goa! This set was extremely special for me. My father passed away at the age of 92 on January 17th. As part of our healing process, my mother decided she would go to Mexico to be with her family during February. I decided to go be with my external family: my amazing friends in the psytrance community, many of whom would be in Goa. 

Two weeks later, I landed in India, and was greeted with a gifted DJ set from my very good friend and brother, Diego (Digoa). He was booked to play the 4:30-6am slot for the official Hilltop after party at one of the most amazing beach clubs in the world, Glory Goa. He had already played a sunset DJ set at the main Hilltop party the night before, and I can't thank him enough for giving me the opportunity to have such an amazing DJ experience as I had. 

It was amazing, cathartic, and I felt my father's soul with me as I gave it my all. The crowd and the crew were incredible, and it was a perfect moment to dedicate to the memory of my father, Don Petterson, may he rest in peace forever. Love you, Daddy.  <3

Spring Freakuency 2016

Recorded live at the Symbiosis Gathering in Northern California, September 2015. One of the best sets of my life, with an amazing, huge crowd on Friday night at the Juke Shack Stage. This is a live recording of my DJ set on the Sun Stage at the Oregon Eclipse. It was the closing night of the stage, and my set was from 21:30-22:45, in between two of the biggest names in psytrance: Earthling (my co-partner at Zero1 Music, Celli Firmi) and the legendary 1200 Micrograms (Riktam & Bansi, Raja Ram, and Chicago). Not only are they amazing musicians, but I'm proud to say they are all also dear friends, so it was a real pleasure to perform between them. Suffice to say, it was one of the most important sets of my life, and I'm happy to say that it went perfectly, in front of a packed dance floor of thousands of international psychedelic eclipse chasers. Pretty much everything about the Oregon Eclipse was perfect, for me, and I couldn't have had a better time dancing and DJing there. Thanks for everyone who was able to be there during my set, and for those of you who weren't, you can check it out for yourselves. Long live psychedelic music!

Brian Sentient - Spring Freakuency 2012

This was my DJ set for "Another Intimate Night With Perfect Stranger", recorded live on June 30th, 2018, at the Public Works SF club in San Francisco. I was honored to be asked by Perfect Stranger to close the party from 1:30am till 3:45am, after he did a 4 hour set from 9:30pm-1:30am. Summer Freakuency 2018

It was an honor and a privilege and a pleasure to play this set. Terrakroma & Noise Revolt threw an amazing party at a beautiful underground venue in downtown Los Angeles. D-Nox, the headliner, played an incredible 3-hour journey of a set, and he was followed up by one of LA's finest, Treavor Moontribe, who kept the dancefloor bouncing for another hour. Being mostly known as a psychedelic trance DJ, I hadn't played a techno party in LA in a couple of years. I was more nervous than usual, and wanted to make a good impression, especially when playing after two virtuosos such as D-Nox and Treavor. I barely had any time to figure out what track to start with, and then it was just me, the music, the crowd, and my focus. I had a lot of fun, and I hope you enjoy listening to it.

Ozora Four Days in California

This is the recording of my Sunday night set at the 2019 Psytribe Freakshow Mojave Masquerade. I had a lot of fun playing it, because it was an interesting one. The DJ before me ended with a 148bpm track, and the DJ after me was going to start with something similar. I decided to make a bit of a journey with this one, going from a harder, faster bpm then lowering it down to a bouncy, slower, chunkier groove, and then building it up again at the end. Straight through, it's psychedelic, and I hope you enjoy it!

Why We Psy Episode 6 - Brian Sentient - (For WHY WE PSY hosted by Treavor Moontribe)

This is a 3 hour set that I performed on New Years Eve of 2020, at a small, private mansion party in Santa Barbara, California. It was recorded live from 00:00-03:00 on January 1st, 2020. I had lots of fun playing this 3hr set, which let me create an evolving journey of sound. The set starts at 140bpm, slowly builds up to 145bpm, and then finally quickly increases to 148bpm with the last couple of tracks (the next DJ was playing a twilight-style psytrance set). Hilltop Goa Feb15 2020

This is the recording of my 1 hour streamed video DJ set from the "Live Stream Day 2" event that happened on May 9th, 2020. Thanks again to XP Voodoo and Valery for inviting me to participate, and for organizing such a fun time for all of us to enjoy during these crazy quarantined times. LiveStreamDay2 May 9 2020

This was one of my favorite sets to play during my month-long stay in Goa, India during February 2020. I was honored to be asked by my friends Jamie (aka Pogo) and Daisy to play at their wedding celebration party. I got to play a transition set, bringing the vibe from techno to psychedelic trance in about an hour and a half. I really enjoy transitional sets, especially between techno and psytrance, which are my two favorite genres of electronic music (especially when they are both psychedelic and full of dancefloor energy). It was a blast, and a pleasure, to play for the newlyweds and a lovely group of wonderful, close friends of theirs. I did have to make an edit to the set before uploading it, due to a fumbling "facepalm" on my part where the music cut off for a minute or so. But apart from that, I think the set and the journey I created was extra special, and worthy of a very extra special moment. I sincerely hope you enjoy this listening experience, too!

Wedding in Goa

This is the recording of a 2.5 hour set that I began playing shortly after the clock struck midnight on December 31st, 2020, and we all got to say good bye (and good riddance!) to the worst year of the 21st century. It was recorded at the music studio we have in the back yard of my home in Los Angeles, where my housemates and I celebrated the start of 2021 with about 10 close friends, dancing the night away. 

Here's to a better year for all my friends, family, and my fellow music listeners, lovers, and dancers.  Thankfully, I'm pretty positive it will be a better year, mainly due to the fact that tomorrow we finally get to say goodbye to the worst president in the history of the USA. After that, we can hopefully begin working to heal the damage he and his corrupt administration caused to this country, and the world. 

Happy 2021, everyone! And fuck you, Covid-19 and 2020!

He started DJing in San Francisco in 2001, with the legendary (((Thump))) crew. Since then, he has been deeply involved in the psychedelic trance community of California, and has also brought his DJing to a global audience, not only as a psytrance DJ, but also playing a mesh of techno/tech-house for gigs that require a slower BPM.

He has had the pleasure of playing on the main stages of some of the biggest psychedelic festivals in the world. Events such as: Origin Festival in South Africa, Ozora Festival in Hungary, Boom Festival in Portugal, Brazil's Universo Paralello, Quebec's Eclipse Festival, and the awe-inspiring Burning Man festival. He's even played at the infamous Electric Daisy Carnival in Las Vegas, where he got to play on one of the art cars during the midnight art car parade through the center of the massive rave.

Before Zero1, he was a label DJ for Alchemy Records in the mid-to-late 2000's, and then joined with Spun Records in 2010, and released his first compilation, "Be Spun", which included some of the biggest dance floor tracks of that year. At the end of 2011, he and the rest of the Zero1 crew formed Zero1 Music, and Brian has been rocking the world with the label's amazing music ever since.

This year he has already played in Goa, India, and is booked to DJ the main stage at Ozora in Hungary again. He is also honored to be playing at the world-famous Lightning in a Bottle festival in California, where he hopes to continue to convert more of the masses to the psychedelic trance world with his special ability of showcasing user-friendly, groovy, uplifting, and melodic (yet always psychedelic) psytrance.
