Bloomsday Rising's 2007 debut album has a little more folk infusion than the band's more recent work, highlighting the narrative quality of Phil Lang's vocals.  Like a collection of short stories, the album takes you from the haunting worlds of "Headlong" and "Down to the River" to the carefree straight-ahead rock of "Connection" and "On Second Chances."  They're not afraid to pull out the seven-minute ballad--'Rattle the Windows' begins with the optimistic epic "Ghost Ship" (6:53) and ends with the existential "Ramona, pt. 2" (7:43)--but by the end of the short 47 minute album, you may just be tempted to play it again.
