Minerva has been a predominant part of Bricolage since the early years, contributing tracks for various compilations whilst also working on collaborations and remixes for the label throughout its history.

Now in 2022, the Hungarian based producer is finally ready to release her first standalone release on Bricolage. "Filótimo" pays homage to her Greek heritage and translates as 'sense of honour'.

This debut EP is comprised of two club ready techno tracks (Írida and Elpída) that have their influences firmly rooted in both the UK and Detroit scenes. A mixture of rolling rhythms, sleek melodic work and hypnotising sound design. The opening track (Meráki) is an intergalactic flavoured experiment that slowly comes to life before exploding into a hammering slab of percussion and acidic mayhem. The closing track (Chalára) is a more stripped back and downtempo ambient affair. A modular escapade full of fluttering notes and reflective synth lines to close out the release.

Three and a half years after her debut album, "Ancestral Origins" was released, we welcome the return of Canadian sound sculptor and field recording specialist, Minimal Drone GRL, to Bricolage.

Her new album, "Through A Green Lens", follows further along the storytelling path that was introduced on her debut. This latest audio collage digs deeper into her journey and encapsulates the various places that she has inhabited throughout her life. There's references to the suburbs, cities and the countryside.

Travelling is also a big part of Joanne's life and the sights and sounds of the places she has visited have inspired a stirring whirlwind of affection and memories that are laid out here, among the soundscapes on offer.

When you combine the elements of home life and travelling the result is "Through A Green Lens". Joanne's life through her eyes.

This stunning sophomore album effortlessly weaves together facets of ambient, dream pop, vaporwave and electronica.

The MDG signature sound has always been expansive in nature and encompassing in emotion. "Through A Green Lens" continues that approach but with an evolution on the production side. Every sound has its place along the voyage and every new chapter of her story unfolds like a conversation with an old friend around a campfire.

For this extra special session we've managed to snare a major coup for the label and get a guest mix from the one and only @roelfuncken

He truly needs no introduction, but we'll try...

Roel is one of the most prolific and well sought after names in the electronic music sphere. Known for his ability to shape-shift through a whole universe of sound with ease. The emphasis lies in unique sound design, fractured textures and an uncanny ability for rhythmic structures that are both complex and compound. All these elements are seemingly effortlessly blended together in his production work and have led to his music being held in high esteem among peers and the electronic music community.

Releasing music over the years as a solo artist (under various aliases) and also as part of Legiac, Funckarma, Cenik, Quench and many more. The list is extensive to say the least.

Roel's mix for Bricolage is an immersive electronic labyrinth. A musical maze full of twists, turns, melodic delights and meticulous percussion.

50 tracks deep and clocking in at just over two hours long. This is a must listen episode for any fan of abstract electronics.

Our first release of 2024 sees a new addition to the label in the form of Payta and her Bricolage debut, "Samsara".

Payta is a multi-disciplinary creative, based in the UK. Adept in both the audio and visual side of the arts and performing live at events across the UK, 

Payta's new album sees her take that warm analogue feel from her live sets and channel it into a stunning release full of slowly evolving hypnotic soundscapes.

Side A of the cassette is a collection of fleeting, electronica and IDM influenced sketches. Ephemeral bursts of melody and cascading rhythms combining to create a colourful and vivid mosaic of sounds.

Side B consists of two longer tracks that allow time for a sense of depth but keep that hazy kaleidoscopic feel while allowing for a more textural flow and blossoming ambient palettes to emerge.

"Left Hand Drive" is the debut release from Wilks.

Drawing on influences from all around the electronic sphere, this Cheltenham based producer has delivered an outstanding EP that melds together elements of drum n bass, IDM, garage, ambient and electronica to create a sonic experience that buries itself somewhere between blurry memories and the present moment.

The meticulous production process of Wilks is evident throughout. Carefully designed rhythmic elements intertwining alongside gleaming melodies and glistening pads with ease. There's a cinematic and sentimental edge within each track and all six on offer here get a turn in expressing their own unique character, emotion and identity.

"Left Hand Drive", as a whole, lays down a marker for this new artist. Wilks is already carving a sound of his own and we're delighted to be able to introduce him to the world.

Our third release of 2024 sees the arrival of Neo Dymium, on the label.

Four metallic shards of electronic music . Hoovering up influences from electro, techno, IDM, trance, dub and breaks. This vortex of noise pulls and pushes the listener in all manner of directions, as it spirals around the speakers.

Dense and precise rhythms climb their way over and under the stocky bass and razor sharp synth lines, on the more club orientated tracks. Gritty but emotive.

While the closing track brings down the curtain with a textured and glitch laden thump. Chewed up soundscapes fusing with murky beats. Squeaking and squirming its way through a dark tunnel before finally twisting its way out to give us a corrosive finale and a hefty full stop on the debut of Neo Dymium.

Fresh off a 2023 album on the phenomenal Waxing Crescent imprint, DFHF, returns to Bricolage for his first release with us since 2021’s “Migration of the Meaning" and his sixth release overall on Bricolage.

The Manchester producer is known for his pristine and precise productions that always have an emphasis on lush textures and tones.

His latest offering. "Formations", brings with it those signature sound DFHF palettes full of luminous melodies, widescreen soundscapes and springy rhythms. Striking the perfect balance of man and machine with intricate percussive tones that intertwine with weightless atmospherics. At times euphoric and at times downtempo but always organic and immersive.

"Formations" is another high watermark in the vibrant audio adventures of Richard Jones.

Up next on Bricolage is the debut EP from Cortecx. 

Ryan Doherty is a Scottish producer, Glasgow born and bred, now based in Hong Kong. Cortecx has slowly but surely worked on evolving his techniques and process for several years now and has sculpted a unique take on all things rhythmic based along the way.

If you are familiar with our "Turadh" compilation from last year then you may be aware of his phenomenal track, "Reflections".

The "Above The Clouds" EP takes things up a notch. Cerebral techno that pulls you in to another dimension. We start things off with a bubbly and edgeless ambient soundscape that gently sinks its way into your consciousness. After that we enter the darker side of Cortecx with two shadowy and dynamic tracks that bring his relentless and powerful percussive elements to the forefront. The weighty rhythms propel both tracks skyward in a meticulous manner while the mysterious layers of sound design add an extra enigmatic elements to the already hypnotic mood that glimmers throughout.

Cortecx closes out proceedings with the astonishing "Plasma". An epic journey that best encapsulates his talents for mixing atmospherics and tempo. A sonic excursion of thumping kicks that come shrouded in emotive tones and crystalline pads. A mesmerizing ending to a stellar debut release.

For our next release, we welcome the enigmatic producer, 'The New Human', to the label with his stunning album, "Proximity Mantra".

"The New Human" isn't afraid to wear his influences on his sleeve. Proudly incorporating the late 90's/early 2000's IDM methodology into his own techniques to create a curious blend of ambient, glitch and twisted yet mellow electronica.

The eight tracks on show here provide us with a myriad of ever evolving and crunchy percussion. Beats that stretch, warp and turn. Each pattern waiting to uncoil and mangle into the next.

Then there's the dark and deep basslines that provide the ideal backdrop for these shuffling and effervescent soundscapes. But it's not all bass and complex beats. There's a whole host of technicolour and expressive melodies in the quieter moments that allow 'The New Human' to showcase his knack for exploratory synth work. Glacial harmonics intertwine with classic IDM bleeps that succeed in carrying the tracks into evocative territory.

The album is rounded out with two remixes. Inverness based producer, Beira, provides her own spiky and chaotic take on "Phoenix" before label boss, Fragile X, dissolves "Thought Patterns" into an ambient electronica journey to close out the release.

Our next offering comes from the Highlands of Scotland as Beira presents her debut, “Scry”.

Beira is a producer from Inverness that draws influence from occultism, mythology, paganism and Wicca.

The blueprint and construction of this release is a little different than usual….

Beira came up with the idea for the “Scry” project whilst doing a deep dive through the Bricolage catalogue looking for inspiration.

Her idea was to take stems/samples from eight different producers on the label and rework them into and alongside some of her own 'WIP' productions that she had been struggling to find further motivation for.

Adding these extra potions to an already simmering cauldron of her own sounds and breathing new life into what she describes as a "dormant elixir".

The result is a fascinating collections of disintegrated and mercurial soundscapes that conjure up all manner of moods but also leave room for the imagination. Atmosphere and woven textures take precedence in the process.

The more ambient numbers that begin the EP bring a raw and abstract tension before the pace picks up and we're introduced to some dark and dubby, bass driven, rhythmic tracks. Hacked apart beats that get stitched back together and swirled around. The surreal and otherworldly tension remains in the second half but now with a late night fire burning and an invitation to dance around it.

There's a strong nod to feminism and Scottish mythology throughout that tells a tale of Witchcraft and days gone by. The perfect soundtrack for the Halloween season.

This album tells the story of Jack Hawthorne. A 68 year old former NASA astronaut that is now grappling with the onset of Alzheimer's disease. Once celebrated for his groundbreaking lunar missions, Jack now finds himself lost in the uncharted territory of his fading mind.

Alzheimer's disease is a subject that is no doubt close to the hearts of a lot of people and it's a subject that Belial has carefully mapped out with the utmost respect.

The music itself is 15 tracks of lucid and harmonic experimental soundscapes that set a transient stage for what feels like a dark yet beautiful dream. There's a tinge of anxiety laced throughout as you would expect with such a theme but it never becomes foreboding. It's more like giant swirls of memories and relics of the past that drift in and out of view.

Belial expertly maps out the journey through hypnagogic tones that resonate with the heart and mind. Fleeting glimpses of rhythmic patterns, flashes of brooding strings and sprinkles of melodic dust. Taking us on a trip through not only Jack's consciousness but also our own. The depth and emotion that burrows its way into each track is of grandiose proportions. At times it feels like we're witnessing a one man orchestra as we traverse through various realms of classical, glitch. ambient and electronica. A reverie of sonic tapestry.

Fragile X and Minerva - Dancing To A Different Drum

Our first release of a busy summer at Bricolage sees @arran-trax release his long awaited debut standalone EP on the label, "Morgenlicht". 

Four audio slabs of acid/electro hybrids that are loaded with creativity, raw analogue power and an old school grittiness reminiscent of the experimental techno of the early 1990's. Acid bleeps and fuzzy basslines incorporated into intricate mechanical soundscapes that are complimented by meticulous drum work. The influences of the Detroit Techno era shine through on the EP but never threaten to engulf the overall sound and style that Arran Trax has tirelessly shaped for himself. 

The concept behind the "Morgenlicht" EP was to 'capture that special atmosphere when you come out of a club and it's just starting to get light'. 

We'd say Arran Trax has done that and more with this classy release that's perfect for peak time or that walk back from the club with your headphones on. 

The EP comes backed up with the bright and colourful @dreamlandfantasy remix of the title track.
