Spring is imminent. New life and new beauty is just around the corner.

That sense of rebirth is made ever more apparent this year with all that's going in our world and, hopefully, what is a light at the end of the tunnel.

For our second release of the year, Dark Fidelity Hi Fi has produced yet another exquisite release to sit alongside his ever impressive and expanding body of work.

The "Beautiful Fragments" album is the perfect soundtrack to ease us into the season of new beginnings. It's the Manchester based producer's second release in 8 months and follows on flawlessly from his "Machine Blossoms" album last August.

Assembled during the winter months, the album subconsciously skirts around the suburbs of the soul and touches on topics such as the feelings of solitude, being stuck in a loop of digital communications and memories of the not so distant past that somehow feels like eons ago.

The music itself is crystalline and immersive. Spacious in parts and busy in others. Organic ambient soundscapes, glimmering melodies and lush drum work. Somber tones make a rare appearance throughout but are balanced out with the sounds of life and hope as we drift towards a new dawn.

"Bangers and Mash" explores the playful side of late 90's IDM. The title alone gives privy to that. The music itself is a cluster of rapid fire drum patterns and wild grooves paired together with gleeful and mischievous synth lines. This rhythmic concoction comes underlined with gloopy, melting and wonky bass and a dose of fizzling techno undertones that tangle it all together. All these elements give the feeling of some kind of bedlam but instead of straying on the nihilistic end of things they remain firmly fun loving and tongue in cheek. At it's core, "Bangers and Mash" is the producers own digital salute to the halcyon days of the twisted and carefree 90's IDM era.

HAVE A LOOK AT THIS!  1) Go to your kitchen and find a nice metal spoon Tea spoons work too but normal ones are better. 2) Get yourself a lighter, the bigger the flame the better 3) Get some duct tape and wrap it around the handle. About 4-6 layers. Start heating up the spoon with the lighter, Make it really really hot. Holding it just above the flame for about 2 minutes should work. 4) 5) Go to a faucet and turn on cold(1) water at full force. 6) Hold the spoon directly under the faucet. 7) Post results. VERY FUCKING FUNNY HAHA

It's been a joy to provide a platform to the evolution of the Glasgow artist as he's transformed his music from his springy and elastic electronica early productions to a fully nurtured vortex of chaos under the Doxil alias. This unique sound palette has always been hard to describe as it sucks so many styles into one massive electronic whirlwind.

AP&F is no different. It's a maelstrom of hyper rhythmic breaks and techno with flashes of IDM and rave. Throw in a slew of smart breakdowns, build ups and freak outs to the mix and the result is an EP with it's dancing feet planted firmly in the 90's and it's eyes on the future.

The whole "genre hopping" term can be used all too frequently today but this release truly ticks that box.
