Maka Foundation was formed in Southampton, England in 1979. First known as Jamaka Hi-Fi  then Maka Hi-Power before becoming Maka Foundation in the early 90's. 
Founder members were Smile, Skippy Ranks & TC. I joined around 1980 first as a 'box boy' and then as a selector. By the mid 80's I had become the main reggae selector along side Smile. 
 Rugged Ricci joined in the mid 80's as an MC and Digniterry (MC & Selector) followed a little while after. Many local Selectors, MC's & Artists have worked on Maka Sound over the years including Craig David, Arron Soul, Wild Child and Shannon B just to name a few.
