South Korea's most accomplished turntablists, Dj Bowlcut is in charge of this month's episode of The MUSAR Show, delivering a 90min mix of 100% Korean and Pacific Asian artists' and labels' electronic music.

Dj Bowlcut is the co-founder of Seoul Community Radio, a focal point of the city’s vibrant electronic music scene. While he has recently gravitated towards house and techno, his dynamic blends and cuts carry over the same energy of his early days as a scratch Dj.
His music signature comes from his versatile style; a blend of club-fit raw house, mid-tempo techno bangers, and spot-on breakbeat to ensure the dancefloor stays electrified. No wonder that his productions on labels like Neoviolence, Nerang Recordings or Berlin Bass Collective have been getting both attention and approval from notable DJs such as Erol Alkan, Moxie, Josey Rebelle, Dj Haus and many more...

The subject of "masculinity in crisis" has become an increasingly divisive topic as the expectations associated with male identity no longer ring true economically or socially; it's codes of behaviour have become lost, what was formally thought of as strengths are now considered by many to be toxic and damaging. Some have taken a reactionary stance to this crisis/criticism, advocating for a doubling down of patriarchal thinking as a solution. The other model, which sees patriarchal masculinity as damaging both to those who perform it and those who come into contact with it, requires a rejection of patriarchal thinking and a new masculine model that eradicates "a will to dominate mind set". 

The participants in this panel will be discussing the factors contributing to a crisis in masculinity, which positions are gaining traction and asking what alternative post patriarchal models might emerge.

Daniel Artus is a Researcher and Co-Organiser of the Towards Post-Patriarchal Masculinities Conference, which will take place at SOAS in June 2019.


Kennedy Walker is a campaigner and writer who's worked on issues ranging from migrant rights to housing. He's written for the Guardian, Media Diversified and has appeared on the BBC and Sky a number of times to speak on social and economic justice issues. Kennedy's a co-founder of KIN, an organisation that networks black organisers, activists, and campaigners. he's particularly interested in the mechanics of social movements, race, class, and queerness".


Rebecca Sharp is a student of psychoanalysis about to begin training in psychodynamic therapy. Also committed to alternate modes of therapeutic work, studying craniosacral therapy and participating in groups that use Gestalt therapy and Hoffman method. Lives between London and Italy.


Lateisha Davine Lovelace-Hanson is an artist, facilitator and organiser. Her work primarily concerns decolonial realities, embodied healing as social justice and The Future World as a site for galvanising a free and just world - she makes performance (The Yard, Shrinking Space, LADA), workshops (Cardboard Citizens, Advocacy Academy, BAC), poetry (Green Man Festival, Southbank Centre Poetry International, Roundhouse Slam Finalist). She is co-founder of Hit The Ground - a theatre project creating transformative immersive experiences nurturing personal and societal connection - leading public workshops as well residencies and collaborationswith Barbican, Cardboard Citizens and Freeword Centre. She is family artist-in-residence at Camden Arts Centre and has also worked with Actors For Human Rights, BAC, Cardboard Citizens and Advocacy Academy Antiuniversity, DIY Space For London
