I think it's a Civil War era tune. Greasy Coat was a derogatory term used for confederate officers because they wore sheepskin untanned coats and they stunk. It may also refer to early prophylactics! I don't sing on this but some of the words are "I don't drink and I don't smoke, and I won't wear that old greasy coat, I don't spit and I don't chew and I don't go with the girls that do"

Sometimes It's Hot

I have played a huge spectrum of music throughout the years, from punk to old time to folk to standard garage rock. I play guitars, banjos, bass, mandolin. fiddle and percussion. I sing on all the tracks except the Erratics songs, which are sung by Stacy Brewer and Don Reid, ca. 1986-ish. I don't really work all that hard on recordings to get them to "perfection", I only have so much patience for the recording process. For me, this is about sharing rough ideas with whoever may care. Hope you like my work.
