From British involvement in the Independence of Colombia, to the present-day Colombian diaspora which has made the UK its home, relations between Britain and Colombia have long been strong.

The 200th anniversary of the Independence of Colombia provided the context for this event organised by the British Academy, Embassy of Colombia in the UK and Colciencias, which reviewed the history of relations between the UK and Colombia, and looked forward to future collaborations through the signing of an agreement of co-operation between the British Academy and Colciencias.
