Enregistré en trois après-midis en 2005 aux Studios Livingston de Londres, avec la participation de Orlando ‘Cachaito’ López à la contrebasse, produit par Nick Gold et magnifiquement enregistré par Jerry Boys, Ali & Toumani est le successeur de In the Heart of the Moon (80 000 exemplaires vendus en France) et le dernier témoignage discographique et d’Ali Farka Touré et de Cachaito Lopez.
Avec son groupe, Toumani Diabaté jouera le répertoire de l’album dans une série de concerts hommage intitulés « Ali Farka Touré Variations » à partir d'avril 2010.

The title is inspired by Daniel Best's Berlin soulclub 'Bohannon' that he named in honour of American disco stomp musician, bandleader and producer, Hamilton Bohannon.
