The second offering from the Abyss is a labyrinthine journey drawn from the kaleidoscopic mind of Te Whanganui-a-Tara–based artist 𝐈𝐤𝐨𝐧𝐚.

Within Aotearoa’s psychedelic circles, Ikona needs little introduction. A steadfast vessel of sound with a vision wholly his own. Master of sound design, modular synthesis, and live performance, he’s inscribed his name deep upon the walls of the scene.

We welcome 𝐏𝐞𝐫𝐩𝐞𝐭𝐮𝐚𝐥 — a descent into the labyrinth, its corridors lined with winding rhythms and shifting textures, each track a prismatic spiral of sound, standing clear testament to Ikona’s singular voice.

The music unfolds as testimony: bass lines that strike with raw force, melodies that embrace with tenderness. Each track reminds us that joy and sorrow are carried in the same breath, that collapse and renewal, despair and devotion, walk hand in hand.

The artists offer fragments of their journeys: trials endured, spirits broken and restored, their commitment renewed in sound. This is not only music but witness, a reminder that to love the world as it is, in its wounds and wonders, is the hardest vow.

Beauty and brutality are not enemies, but mirrors, reflecting us back to ourselves, guiding us toward wholeness and awakening.

- It's You (145): The track, "It's you" is a tribute & an anthem protesting the impunity of gender-based violence which condemns the judicial system’s failure to protect women and their rights, and raises awareness on the culture of violence intrinsic to the fabric of our society. The audio in the track, "Un violador en tu camino" means,"The rapist is you –..


-The Joker (165): The track, "The Joker" is a tribute of a DC Comics based character called the Joker. During the scene on the subway, still in his clown makeup, Joker is beaten by three drunken men who were harassing a female passenger; he shoots two in self-defense and executes the third. The murder is condemned to be envious of successful rich people and thus named a clown. Demonstrations against rich begin protesting on clown masks in Jokers image creating Mayhem.

-Drink The Jungle (184): The track, "Drink the Jungle" is our tribute to Leader of the Shipibo-konibo community, Olivia Arévalo Lomas, who was 81 years old when she was shot in the chest and murdered. The event occurred in a context of territorial conflict between the Shipibo community and companies that desire to take over their land to cultivate palm oil. Even today the wood extraction entrepreneurs that illegally exploit the amazon rain forest and drug traffickers constantly threatens them. In 2015, other leaders and members of the Shipibo community of Santa Clara de Uchunya were threatened.

Olivia was a known shaman of Victoria Gracia, an intercultural settlement in the district of Yarinacocha. She was a grandmother who worked with medicinal plants & guardian of villages of more than 35,000 people that inhabit the amazon rainforest of Peru.

A deep gratitude, homage as well as Condolence to the Grand mother.
