It’s amazing how much a band can accomplish in just one year. In the last twelve months, Broadway Mile have shared the stage with the likes of You Am I, Gypsy & The Cat, Hungry Kids of Hungary, Sparkadia, The Holidays, The Trews (CAN), Lydia (USA) and Bluejuice. This was on the back of the success of their highly anticipated debut EP ‘Now You Know’ which was recorded with Sonny Truelove (Sienna Skies, Joywave, Angelas Dish). 

The songs 'Til The End & Now You Know have gathered a remarkably high response for an unsigned band from Alternative Commercial radio in the USA and worldwide, with over 300 spins in a few short weeks. Such stations include Indie1031, Flux FM, KALX, KCMP, KNRK, KTCL, KTCV, Moheak Radio, RIFF2, WCNR, WEQX, WSOU, WXPN, just to name a few. Both songs have had chart success on Triple J Unearthed, with Now You Know reaching the no.1 overall spot for six consecutive weeks and ‘Til The End maintaining the no.1 position on the pop charts for two months straight. The praise has continued, with Alex Dyson (Triple J, Co-host of the breakfast show) commenting after he reviewed Now You Know “You lads certainly know how to write a pop song. Keep pushing yourself musically and lyrically and i can see a very bright future indeed!” 

Their EP has drawn comparisons to Simple Plan, Owl City and Motion City Soundtrack, while capturing the natural energy from their live performances. The AU Review has noted that Broadway Mile have a ‘clean freshness’ about them, going on to say that “Broadway Mile demonstrates the best of clean cut pop-punk, and have kickstarted a new era of pop, separate from the Fall Out Boy and Panic! At the Disco clone bands.” 

Lead singer Timmy Broadway talks about some funny moments in 2011 which made him realise that their music was connecting with people on a whole new level "Melbourne is always good fun; we played a Halloween show in a club recently with a dress up theme. Everyone got involved and was singing and dancing along. I couldn't help but laugh halfway through the show when I looked up and saw what appeared to be a block of cheese (SpongeBob SquarePants) shaking it's ass off in the front row." The stories continue with guitarist Justin Humphries reminiscing on an interesting day at work "A lady approached me while I was working at JB HiFi, handed me a piece of paper, and asked 'Do you have this album?' I was seriously staring at the bit of paper for about a minute - it said 'Broadway Mile - Now You Know'. I eventually said 'Erm, it's not an album, it's an EP... it only has 5 songs... and we don't sell it here but if you come back tomorrow I can bring one from home?'
The lady said 'That would be AWESOME if you could do that! My son-in-law has been on the hunt for it for a while now'.
She did actually come back the next day, and asked me to sign it. It was a pretty surreal experience, but amazing all the same!" 

So what does 2012 hold for Broadway Mile? Tim Broadway adds
"I would like to see a lot of things accomplished in 2012, but the main thing would have to be international travel. We have our sights set on traveling to the UK & USA. I know we will make the most of it and have a blast." Drummer Brendan Kelso points out that “2012 has already gone off with a bang! We were lucky enough to play with Gyspy & The Cat and Sparkadia on NYE in Newcastle. I couldn’t help but notice one fan showing his appreciation on a whole new level when he stripped off and did a back flip into the wharf! Don’t worry, he survived and did it another 10 times!”

Broadway Mile is an Australian, clean cut, pop-rock trio. Their radio-friendly sound is inspired from childhood days spent listening to their parents eclectic record collection in the outer suburbs of Newcastle, NSW. Some people have drawn similarities to the likes of Rob Thomas, Noiseworks and The Gaslight Anthem. In the past year they have supported Australian icons You Am I and Dragon, and have just been announced as the local support act for Noiseworks frontman Jon Stevens.

Their first EP released in 2011 saw their tracks ‘Til The End’ and ‘Now You Know’ hold #1 positions on the Triple J Unearthed charts for 8 weeks consecutively. Those two tracks also gathered a remarkably high response on Alternative Commercial radio in the USA , with over 300 spins in a few short weeks. Such stations include: Indie1031, Flux FM, KALX, KCMP, KNRK, KTCL, KTCV, Moheak Radio, RIFF2, WCNR, WEQX, WSOU and WXPN. These achievements have also helped them to snatch support slots with popular Australian artists like Bluejuice, Sparkadia and Gyspy & The Cat.

In 2012, the boys hit the studio again with local producer Sonny Truelove. The new release has Broadway Mile fans everywhere on the edge of their seats, and features one of Newcastle’s most loved female artists, Jade Gannon. With the new EP, Broadway Mile brings pop-vibrancy 2.0 to the Australian music scene whilst retaining their edgy 90’s inspired progressive vibe previously established on their first EP.
