It was a beautiful fall day, and I had Camille at the park.  She was in the toddler swing, and I was pushing her.  At the apex of her swing, she would reach out her hands as if to catch something.  Her smile was so full of joy that it made me nearly weep.

"What are you doing," I asked.
"I catching the moon!!" she responded, with such conviction and so full of giggles that I did, in fact, feel my eyes fill.  I turned and looked, and sure enough, the moon was out and full in the middle of the day.

These are the moments when I say, "I am doing exactly what I'm meant to do.  This is my most important mission from God.  I am Daddy."

BaMidbar - A Wilderness Song

A work-in-progress for my oldest daughter, who loves space!!

This is my first attempt with LSDJ.

Quaoar (LSDJ - Work in progress)

50000 Quaoar (pronounced "KWA-war") is a dwarf planet in the Kuiper belt.  My 8 year old daughter loves space, and loves Quaoar, so I wrote a song imagining what it would be like for her to fly there.  I had Cylons on the brain at the time, too, I think.

This is my first completed project using LSDJ!

The cover art for this track is an original pixel art creation inspired by the ship sprite from the original Gradius NES game.

Quaoar (Final Version)

The Water Moccasin is a snake that every East Texas kid grows up respecting or fearing. It's part of the riverine mythos.

The image file is altered from a (beautiful) photo by Matthew Prosser, of the Sabine River near my childhood home. In addition to snakes and oil derricks, there were also alligators and alligator gar. It's a wonder none of us died in that river! But there were also herons, bald cypress trees, and plenty of other wonderful things that drew us back.

This is the first track I've tried to record using only hardware synths. It's very simple, just a theme that was going through my head as I drove home in the snow today. Korg Volca Beats, Korg Volca Keys, and Novation MiniNova.

I was exploring harmonic structures on top of 4 notes from the Volca Keys. All sounds from microbrute, mininova, Volca Keys, Volca Beats.

These are getting weirder and weirder. And I'm obsessed with C minor right now.

The chirp is two sample & hold LFOs modifying 2 filters at different rates. The signal is path is coming from the microbrute into the mininova, which I think introduces some noise even when the microbrute isn't playing, which adds a little crunch to the chirp.

The middle part is the volca keys on unison ring mod.
