Dodgy

It’s a strange feelin to know
That this will turn into such a fickle thing.
I knew you sweetly, softly and I hoped
I would never feel you sting.
I lie down like a rug and I fall like dust on the shelf.
Seems like I can help just about anyone except for myself.

Couldn’t you see my heart was open?
How I wore it on my sleeve.
But you can stand to see it broken
You kinda like to watch them bleed
I guess that’s why it came as no surprise
When you so suddenly, up and drove on.
Well I was fine before I met you
I’ll be just fine when you’re gone.

That I am becoming such a bitter man.
I get selfish, and jealous but know
I’m doing the best I can.
Til my back’s to the wall and I fall like books on the shelf.
Seems like I can save just about anything except for myself.
