"midnight man" is an open letter to a loved one.

this track is a bit different for me.  I don't often write about people directly in my music, usually, I tend to use metaphors or myself as a stand-in.  This track is about a friend of mine I lost when we were 19.  It was tragic, and I still think about him all the time.  Initially, I didn't want to write a song about him because it kind of felt like I was capitalizing on the situation, but the day I wrote this instrumental, it felt right to do it so I did, and I'm glad I did.

"stasis; escape" is an open letter to the world.

this track is about my feeling of isolation from my personality, feeling like I'm always watching everyone else through a window or something.  Part of me wishes I felt more normal as I could take part in regular conversations without feeling that they're meaningless, but i'm also happy its hard to connect with people because that makes the connection that much stronger for me.

"Call Home" w/ Trey Austin

hello everyone!!  This is "galapagos". 

It's a song that I wrote inspired by a dream I had.  I was walking through a field of grass taller than I was, and all I could hear was a sort of rhythmic, cryptic swirl of voices around me as I made my way through the field.  I woke up really excited by it, and wrote this!  I also made a little lyric video with some golden hour footage from my apartment, as I've been busy with work and school lately. “blue” was the first track I’d recorded my own vocals for, and it came really naturally.  I’ve always written lyrics on my phone for as long as I can remember but this was the first time I actually put them to use.  I don’t really care to get too in depth about what it’s about because I’ve always found It more interesting (for myself) to come to my own conclusions about what an artist is saying. "play" is about what I think about on a daily basis. curious about the world & wanting to experience it, but feeling as though my freedom is blocked for various reasons. talking about wanting to evolve as a person, keeping to myself, & memories of an old friend. parts of these lyrics hold deep value to me. I named it "play" because it highlights the parts of the song I enjoy, & juxtapose the lyrics that upset me.

this is my ep, "blue!".  the first ep I've ever written and released.  "blue!" is about my personality, and writing about things I can't really describe in conversation.  this ep was definitely about curating a theme, but most importantly, writing what came naturally and speaking for me in a way I can't easily articulate with just words.

I care a great deal about music / electronic music culture,  it's done so much for me I can't even explain.  that being said, I'm hoping to have given something back that can help inspire and impact peoples lives in a positive way.

"Moment of Clarity" is about finding moments in your daily life that can remove you from your routine and give you a good feeling, finding a moment for even a minute of your day that can put you somewhere else. It's also about adventure, and a thirst for new experiences.  I think it's a step in a new direction from the "blue!" ep, I've been trying to write stuff a bit differently since then, so I think that the music you'll hear from me from here on out will keep changing.

“IMMORTAL, sometimes” is a little scrambled,  but the overall theme is very much intact.  It’s about living inside a little dream world.  Moving on from things that bothered me in the past, shredding dead weight.  Living in a bubble that doesn’t need to hear things from the people they don’t care about.  It’s kind of a short story about the way I’ve changed over the past few years.  I’ve gotten good at taking care of myself and tuning people out, where as before I was quite accustomed to people taking advantage of my perceived naivety and non confrontational nature.  The second verse explains just that; low self esteem, self doubt, bottom of the totem pole bullshit.  This song is a pretty good example of turning negative energy positive.

eternity swim

track two from the series "coloured in chrome"  

"arbutus" is a river of introspection; flowing and ebbing through memory and nostalgia.

this track is a trip down memory lane for me.  About once a week I'll go for late-night drives and check out old neighborhoods and some of my favorite places to visit; this is the soundtrack for those moments.  driving down arbutus street in Vancouver near my childhood home, or driving the Sea to Sky highway and spotting the saturated green and brown pastel hues of the arbutus trees that line the cliffside.
