The teen Alien finds humans interesting, wants to experiment on one closely/gets alert to return home by his parents who've discovered the spacecraft missing.
The Alien then scrambles to get home since it is in a forbidden zone. 
But not before he picks up a 'specimen' to take back with him on the ride home -- something to 'play' with.

Alien gets alert it's found a system that's forbidden/dangerous. But once more lucid finds the 'solar system' quite beautiful and not as threatening as his home system. 
He learned of this system listening to messages beamed out from "Major Tom" (from Bowie's "Space Oddity") and the Voyageur I space crafts. 
The lyrics describe these events as it takes in all the sights of the planets it's passing.
