On July 15th, Brooklyn’s EULA will release their latest single “Orderly” b/w “Meadows” on Bloodmoss Records. Recorded by legendary producer Martin Bisi (Sonic Youth, Swans), EULA’s angular, aggressive sound has reached their grandest scale yet. The merging of Alyse Lamb’s guttural wails with the band’s clashing guitars, deep rumbling bass, and booming backbeat-heavy drums is as chaotic as it is meditative. Bisi’s focus on layers and textures is apparent here as he pulls back Alyse’s haunting vocals just enough for the grimy feedback to have as much of an impact in all the heaviness.

Blood Sister is back with their heady brand of blown-out rippers. Ezana Edwards, formerly of Brooklyn act Night Manager, relocated to San Francisco after the band parted ways and initially started jamming with members of Bay Area mainstays such as Ganglians, The Mallard, and Warm Soda for early Blood Sister shows.

Edwards, who handles guitar/vocals, enlisted Vanessa Robinson on bass, Syam Zapalowski on guitar/synthesizer, and K. Dylan Edrich (ex-The Mallard) on drums to complete Blood Sister’s current live band. On his new self-titled EP for Bloodmoss Records, Edwards wrote and recorded all of the songs himself using a variety of studios and techniques that were vital for its completion.

Blood Sister has and will always be as loud as possible, and the dynamic song structures, screeching guitars, and surging blasts this time around don’t just make up songs, they make up a machine. And it’s a vicious one.

Unknown Mortal Orchestra started out as a one-man band, but after getting a bit of attention (mainly from Fat Possum, who UMO have recently signed to), founder Ruben Nielson decided to add a couple of members. The music is a mix of beats and psych-rock, and I’ve been loving it lately. This track was originally on their self-titled EP, but it also showed up as the opening track on their debut self-titled full length for Fat Possum.
