Vocalist Brooke Dillon is stepping into new territory with her latest offering. Her mellow, alternative-pop sound stems from a reawakened desire to create music for easy listening, conjuring visions of open spaces to run and freedom to move. Purely genuine in delivery, Brooke’s single “In My Head” is designed for slow days and cathartic feels.

 

A nomad at heart, Brooke’s music has arced in line with her blazing passion to mix things up and chase new adventure. Her oasis as a child was a bedroom in the roof of the family home, perched atop a hill with a view to die for; the perfect pedestal from which to belt out melodies and generally run amuck. This hunger for freedom and room to breathe catalysed a constant desire to sing, create, write and evolve, no matter what anyone else had to say. And as one of four children in a loud and vibrant family dynamic, somebody always had an opinion to procure.

 

Spending a great deal of her early years in a semi-rural context on NSW’s mid-north-coast, Brooke developed an appreciation for all genres and styles of music, taking inspiration from both country and pop music, and positively fangirling to superstars Fleetwood Mac and Led Zeppelin. Combined with her countless years spent singing in church in her youth, these experiences and sounds gave shape to an artist rooted in confidence and integrity. Brooke has since shared the stage with the likes of Brooke Fraser, Joel Houston and Israel Houghton and sang to over 5000 people at the former Sydney Entertainment Centre.

 

Whether writing, performing, singing or dreaming of the next challenge, Brooke’s driving force continues to lay first and foremost in music; the thrill of creating it and the joy of sharing her own work with others. “In My Head” is the end result of a grand narrative in self-confidence and maturity, soulful, earnest and ripened to fruition.
