Club Mix

Born and raised in Brooklyn. I got into music at a very young age, I remember listen to the radio the original 92 WKTU and always wished that I could be on the air. At the age of 15 I got my first set of turntables which were Germinis and a Germini mixer and that night I stood up til the break of dawn playing with the equipment. At that time FREESTYLE/ HOUSE/ BREAK BEATS/ RAP - HIP HOP were heading to the top of the charts, thats all people wanted to hear....  So did I.  I remember saving money to buy the TECHNICS 1200's (cause thats what I really wanted).  Later on (way later) I I ended up buying 2 Technics 1200's which cost me $400 each and thats when I knew I can rock it.  Don't get me wrong I LOVED my Gemini's, they taught me how to beat match, scratch, cut, and kind of Transforming....  But the Technics made me be a better scratch, cut and transform DJ.  It took me a few hours to learn the pitch control on the 1200, but only seconds to handle the plate (scratching, cutting, transforming).  I can actually remember buying records for $3.99 each (a 12 inch), and several years later, they got up to $4.39 (a 12 inch).  And I bought most of my records on Kings Highway in Brooklyn called the MUSIC FACTORY.  They all knew my name just as I knew theirs.  I remember buying records on Fulton ST at a place called BEAT STREET (they had alot of white label records there which I bought).  I also remember going down Utica AVE buying records (especially Reggae);  Enough of the past, lets now deal with the present.....  I apparently did the switch to DIGITAL DJ-ING, which I have no complaints at all.  Gotta get with the times.  But....  I still use my Technics 1200's with an Analog mixer (4 channel of course)....I also use 2 MIDI controllers (had 3 but gave 1 to a friend - DJ NINA, we did a trade off)....  And of course my interface and Laptop.  My set up is very simple, just as long as you can handle 4 decks at once.  It does take alot of space (5 and a half feet long), but I don't care, I enjoy every bit of it.    

The types of music I started playing was Freestyle and House, Rap and Hip Hop, and a bit of Reggae.  As a teen DJ my influences were and still are today Todd Terry, Louie Vega, Frankie Bones, The Latin Rascals, DJ Red Alert, and Chuck Chill Out.  

The music I play now is more of the Dance House scene. I have my different style of music and mixing.
