Dissolve (Scratch to Erase)

On July 6th, 1947, rancher Mac Brazel showed pieces of wreckage he found in one of his cow pastures on the Foster Ranch to Chaves County Sherriff George Wilcox.  On July 8th, the Roswell Army Air Force put out a press release claiming they had found a flying saucer.  This same day, Sherriff Wilcox sent two deputies to the debris field who were subsequently turned back by MP's.  The following day, July 9th, the Army Air Force retracted their statement and explained that intelligence officer Major Jesse Marcel had simply misidentified the remains of a weather balloon.  Intelligence officers located Mac Brazel and brought him to Roswell Army Air Field for questioning.  He was released and made a press statement with a revised version of his original story.  On july 26, President Harry S. Truman signed the National Security Act, which created the Central Intelligence Agency.  This act also allowed for the Air Force to detach from the Army and become its own entity, which would now report  directly to the CIA and President Truman.  An intriguing series of events, wouldn't you say?
