Seldom do I have time to sit down and compose anything of my own anymore and when I can, I truly enjoy the experience.

I have wanted to write something for a full brass choir and this seemed to write itself. It is based on a seldom heard folk song and a Theme and Variation form seemed to fit this number.

Most Theme and Variations have distinct separations between each variation but what I wanted was a more “through composed” feel so each variation runs into the next.

God You're So Good- Trumpet Choir

This was originally written for Flute, Recorder, Harpsichord and Strings and as you can see, was also written in the key of E minor. The Solo parts were changed to 2 Trumpets, the Strings replaced by the remainder of the Brass Quintet and the key was lowered to better fit the Brass instruments. An additional change was made by adding one additional measure in order to give this first movement a final resolution which was needed to give closure to this first movement.
