My entry for the "Back On Track" April Looptalk Contest. The basic rules involved creating a track with a total FLP size less than 880 kb, no synths allowed, and no more than 8 voices playing at the same time (no more than 8 sounds polyphony - a 4 note chord counts as 4 voices). I used nothing but the basic sound sample shapes included with FL Studio. Every instrument, including the percussion, was crafted using those very short sound pulses.

Off The Rails

My entry for Aiden Kenway's "Roulette" remix contest on W.A. Production. This is a contest I've been very excited about, because the prizes are some that I'm actually interested in. This was made on several late nights, staying up well past the time I ought to sleep because I want to win this one so much right now. 

-Produced in 2 weeks using FL Studio 21
-Significant departure from my usual style
-HUGE mixing challenge as a result - metal and rock are not my genres of choice. There is much about the piece that is nowhere near the quality I want. But I have to be done with it. I've got nothing left to give here.
-None of the original samples were used - I wanted to produce something as original as possible while still following the source material. The result is a track that may honestly be a bit TOO different. None of the competing remixes sound even remotely similar to this. A+ for originality in my book, but it may make it hard to judge it as a valid piece versus the many, many other tracks that utilized the source material directly.

I set a goal this year to make two songs a month. This is track number 2 for the month of January - a track with pitch corrected speech synthesizers, harmonies, trumpets, orchestral builds, and mindless dance music. It has limited vocals which I just wrote from scratch to have SOMETHING to work with, but I later realized had some interesting personal meaning for me. It's far from perfect, but I'm proud to be working on a lot of music right now.
