'(That) JoGo Groove' featuring Bravo Reds and Greg Boyer is much more than a sum of its parts. Inhabiting the pre-gogo sound of Chuck Brown and the Soul Searchers, while pushing hard The JoGo Project's message of universal groove. Call and response vocals led by established DC talker Bravo Reds, with peppered-in old school ad libs lay the funk on thick. Then the trombone solo comes in to seal the deal, played by P-Funk All Star Greg Boyer, who's shared stages with Prince, George Clinton, Maceo Parker, and Chuck Brown for decades.

The JoGo Project, is a WAMMIE Award-winning jazz and gogo band from Washington, DC founded in 2014 by Washingtonian and local Jazz Ambassador Elijah Jamal Balbed, who performed with the Godfather of GoGo Chuck Brown the last year of Mr. Brown's life. JoGo has been a consistent force, performing live shows in the DC area and recently expanding to the Mid-Atlantic and Southern US. In 2018 they made history as the first gogo band to perform in Russia on a cultural diplomacy tour on behalf of the U.S. State Department.

The JoGo Project has self-released a handful of singles and are now joining Growroom Productions with the goal of expanding JoGo's reach and bringing the live show around the globe again. Much as Balbed's mentor, Chuck Brown, did in the early 70s, he plans to bring the sound of DC to the masses with his unique blend of jazz and gogo. By building on the grooves of Chuck's Soul Searchers, '(That) JoGo Groove' gives the listener something funky to bop to, with a catchy hook that you'll find yourself singing long after the song is over.
