Pirate Girl Theme

A piece I wrote to the death of the Beast in "Beauty and the Beast". It's a piece about longing and losing. 

Over The Rainbow (Orchestral)

I was inspired to write something slightly melancholic after reading about a group of musicians who held an impromptu concert in the ruins of their town after it was bombed in WWII. The piece opens with a solo violin in C minor and a simple piano backing, leading via contrapuntal brass to a long crescendo fugue in the wind instruments linking to the centre section in Eb major (a glimmer of hope and optimism for our fellow musicians as they seek to rebuild their lives in the ruins of the town). The coda sees a return to the opening solo violin in C minor (as harsh reality of their situation still remains).

After The Storm

Journey

A freshly composed overture suite of orchestral film music. The journey starts by an heroic brass fanfare which segues into uplifting and exotic orchestral textures and lyrical melodies. We arrive at a bucolic homage to pastoral England in the Elgarian tradition, before our returning trumpet trio sweeps us back to an epic finale.

Shorten Suite is, in part, a tribute to some of my favourite composers: Ennio Morricone, William Walton, John Barry, Aaron Copeland, John Williams, Richard Strauss and of course Edward Elgar.

The phrasing is elegant, the harmonic progressions stately and inspired. And the overarching feel of grandeur permeates the sounds. With this collection of piano tracks, we honor the memory of one of the most important figures in classical music: Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart. Elegant Elegy

Music for film, TV, games, and animation.  I have worked on award winning films and nationally aired TV commercials including on Sky Movies and MTV.  Composer for 'Click Click Clack' a finalist for Frame London Dance Film Festival 'Tunnel', a finalist in NZ Tropfest Film Festival, 'Kia Ora Miguel' which won Reading Cinemas Best Digital Shorts and a Short Film Otago award, and 'The Pirate Boy' which has been shortlisted for the New Zealand Film Commission fresh shorts 10k scheme. Currently working on several films for A list festivals and also arranging for Australian choir 'Low Rez'.
