Written in tribute to Ryuichi Sakamoto, ‘A Song’ shivers with introspection and nostalgia. Melodic but restrained, with its warm, almost comforting chords, the piece calls to mind the proto-ambience of Erik Satie.

Having received his training in Rennes and the conservatories of Paris, Dalibert has a musical background that is naturally entrenched in the technical aesthetic of classical music. However, experimenting with algorithmic ways of writing and other mathematical concepts such as fractals, Dalibert’s music combines emotion and logic for captivating results. His music has been played on BBC Radio, Radio France and NTS Radio, among others.

In science and the human heart is the latest album from Tokyo-based audio artist and gagaku (Classical Japanese imperial court music) musician Hiroshi Ebina. Ebina made his debut on KITCHEN. LABEL with Faraway Vicinity EP, via a collaboration project with composer Kin Leonn, was recorded during the early days of the Coronavirus pandemic and offered a remedy for social isolation. In science and the human heart represents an evolution of its predecessor and goes deep diving into crafting a warm weightless environment and free-floating ambiance to encourage a state of relaxation, ‘sound health’ and, most interestingly, address issues of the human heart. 

With this release, Ebina opened up about overcoming depression during his early adulthood and created this work as a personal therapeutic process to cope with the experience. Meditative, gentle and minimal, In science and the human heart is a calming recording. The artist produced the music via a system of open-reel tape processing in conjunction with modular synthesizers and acoustic instruments such as music boxes, glockenspiel and guitars. The album starts with the sound of the tape machine (a half-a-century-old NAGRA IV) turning on, and a music box recorded onto 1/4 inch tape slowly reverberates along with a subtle drone. Ebina modifies the playback speed and mics the output from the built-in speaker. The method resulted in capturing some sounds of the tape machine itself, and these were purposefully left in the final mix. Jewel-toned plucked sounds, tape noise and the sounds of found objects alternate with cascades of light and fragile beauty, creating an aura of stillness and an indescribable sense of balance. Light harmonics and decay that hovers throughout the album add its imminently lingering quality. In science and the human heart has an unhurried and lulling quality that lends itself well as a background for meditation or creating a peaceful atmosphere for sleep. 

The instrumental exploration seems to speak directly to the heart, which enfolds the listener in a comforting curve of sound. Ebina states, “Each song is a small message card to listeners. I hope they might be signposts for your life when you need them as they did for me.”

Mastered in New York by Joseph Branciforte, Hiroshi Ebina’s In science and the human heart will be released on November 11, 2022 on limited edition cassette tape and digital formats.

We are proud to announce a new FLAU artist, Patrick Ellis @patrick, an artist from New York who participated in Machinone's Tokyo Remixes. The first of his releases is a best hit collection from his several mixtapes. It's a collection of glowing, shivering fragments sampled from a variety of records and put together with an outstanding pop sensibility. A dreamy sampling collage that swallows and sublimates various elements of disco, folk, ambient, electro and hip-hop. 
The Selected Works 2010-2015 will be out on digital tomorrow via Bandcamp, soon on all digital platforms.
His first album 'Deserter' is due to be released later this year.

Bruno Jorge de Oliveira Pernadas (born 9 December 1982 / Lisbon) is a Portuguese Musician, Composer, Arranger and Producer. He has a degree in Music by the Superior School of Music of Lisbon (ESML) in Jazz department.
He began his musical studies with classical guitar at the age of thirteen. Later, from 2003 to 2007, he attended the Lisbon Jazz School – “Hot Club de Portugal” where he current teaches guitar, ear training and combo.

During his studies he participated in several workshops, masterclasses and orchestra internships with musicians and composers such as Lee Konitz, the Lisbon Music School Jazz Orchestra, John Taylor, San Francisco Jazz Collective, Pete Rende, Dan Weiss, Ben Monder and David Binney among others. 
He has been an active musician and composer in several projects since an early age, which lead him to participate in numerous music festivals in Europe, South-America and Japan. As a multi-instrumentalist, Pernadas plays guitar, piano, bass, synthesizers, and drums among other instruments.

Bruno Pernadas has released three records so far on his own name: How can we be joyful in a world full of knowledge (2014), Those who throw objects at the crocodiles will be asked to retrieve them (2016) and Worst Summer Ever (2016), bringing together several music styles such as jazz, space age pop, folk, world music and electronic. The records were critically acclaimed, gaining massive positive reviews and were named Best Record of the Year in several music magazines and Portuguese and International music reviews. He has also recorded with several bands as a co-leader and as a sideman.

As a freelance-musician, he works with different bands such as; Minta and The Brook Trout, Suzie's Velvet, The Sun Ra project (as leader and arranger) and Montanhas Azuis alongside with Norberto Lobo and Marco Franco.
In 2018 he record the debut album "Ilha de Plástico" by Montanhas Azuis, he has also produced the fourth album for the Japanese Band Kikagaku Moyo named Massana Temples. 

In mid 2010’s, Bruno Pernadas branched out into Composition more seriously, creating innumerous original soundtracks for Film, Television, Performing Arts, Theatre and Contemporary Dance. Such works includes; Ferloscardo (Circus / Theatre Performance), Sometimes the lights go out (Theatre), Romeo and Juliet by the National Ballet of Portugal, On the Origin of Species (Theatre), based on Charles Darwin’s book by the same name, The wolf’s Lair (Film), Our favorite Sport (Theatre), Steamboat Bill Junior (Film) and The Hissing of Summer Lawns (Film), Patrick (film) among others.

Bruno Pernadas new Album it’s expected to be released in 2020.
