Finding solace in my solitude of days that I want to end 

I tell myself that life is beautiful but often it’s all pretend 

The man that’s in the mirror he appears to be my only friend 

He can hold a conversation but his voice is only in my head 

I find that my imagination is alive but my dreams are dead

Or maybe I’m just overthinking all the things that should be left unsaid  

Chapters of stories that forever will be left unread 

Dreams are meant for sleeping so I’ll put this mess to bed 


And maybe life is directing me in the direction of what’s meant to be 

The day that you eat the fruit is not the same day you plant the seed 

I know exactly what I want in life, 
But Im overlooking what I need 

But I appreciate every little message that is sent to me 

I compare my path to others and I feel like I’m way behind

New Indie Folk Update - April 10, 2020

Written in quarantine, this song is a celebration of the people, places, and pursuits that inspire you—or simply get you through—in the midst of uncertainty.

It's also a declaration of thoughts of regret. At the beginning of the pandemic, I caught myself misusing my time and thinking how I could have shaped moments in my past differently, which very rarely helped in the moment. This mindset wasn't unique to the pandemic, but the feeling was compounded by a few key events I experienced during it. It's been far more rewarding so far as I aim to shift those thoughts to the things I don't regret for a second, and the positive changes still to come.
