Mating pop punk with math rock, Jade Garden is born out of nostalgia for laughing around a table with friends. Upon listening, you will embody the euphoric presence, childlike joy, and fearlessness felt in those auspicious moments when the future is unknown yet irresistible.

"Jade Garden is named after a dim sum spot in downtown Boston of which I have fond memories. I would sit with my favorite people at a huge round table. Once, I brought my portable recorder with me to capture the sounds of the bustling restaurant. I make recordings like this for the same reason someone might take a picture, and they often become inspiration for my music. I wouldn't say this song is strictly about those friends or that time in my life, but it is meant to capture something about the way I felt with those people, to crystallize the unbridled positivity, euphoria, and carefree childlike energy I felt in those moments. The name is an attempt to pin that down. I feel certain that someday we will find ourselves sharing food at a round table once again."

Back To The Lab Again is the flow state you strive for. Work and play intertwined, locked in place, yet moving together like liquid gold. It starts when you sit down at your desk, or pull out the tray table in front of you, with your tools clean and sharp. "Well," you say to yourself, "Back to the lab again."

This sense of flow often happens to me on airplanes when I have the chance to work on a long flight. I've always liked the massive crescendo of airplanes, so I sampled them, and they ended up in this song. This track didn't start on an airplane or get finished on an airplane or have anything to do with airplanes at all really, but the subconscious association was made anyway. Listening to this song now recalls memories of flights that take a cup of coffee and a full laptop battery and turn them into new music. Or night trips where my ascent organizes the little city lights I can see out the little window.
