Musical expression has always been at the forefront of how I’ve chosen to live my life. Since the end of 2020, we’ve been through a global pandemic and a world-wide fight against racism through the Black Lives Matter Movement, but the fight is not over. Coming into the new year of 2021, there has been an unprecedented increase in the number of Asian Hate crimes around the world and this piece of music specifically addresses this topic. Through instagram and other social media platforms, many have become increasingly aware of this social justice issue, especially myself. For my lyrics, I referenced posts on instagram that help spread the word about Asian Hate. My intent is to express my anger, anxiety, and sadness through the power of music, as well as to inform, address, and spark conversation with others who listen.
