Bside Incoming: Rhode & Brown 

First of all, happy New year from us at Bside! We have a lot up our sleeve for the year, first to note we have now moved to 2 shows a week - releasing on both a Sunday and now a Wednesday.  

We welcome 2021 with more German selectors to the Bside Incoming Podcast series which is attracting international artists of an ever higher calibre. Munich based Friedrich Trede and Stephan Braun are friends, avid record collectors, creative producers, record label owners (Slam City Jams) and impressive DJs. Their artistic lives collided in 2010 and the world has since been lucky enough to have: Rhode & Brown.

Renowned for house music, but infused with a multitude of influences ranging from soul music to downtempo electro. Their style is a warm and inviting energy that proves to be irresistible. No wonder then that their Bside selection is as impressive as everything else they’ve produced, be it DJ sets or an increasing range of amazing music.

They have released an array of music on Toy Tonics, Permanent Vacation, Shall Not Fade and their own Slam City Jams. Featuring also as part of the Toy Tonics Jams events across Europe alongside some of the usual suspects: Kapote, COEO and other artists from the label.

Many cherished records and bargain gems, a soothing intro followed by electro hip hop, scintillating vocals, lots of synthy beats and post punky rhythms.

This week brings another exciting announcement for the Bside Incoming series, we have an episode from a very talented German duo who are just as highly renowned for their ever delightful productions as for their mastery of the turntables and incredible collection of music. We warmly welcome COEO.

Recent years have seen them develop a close affiliation with Toy Tonics, with 8 releases over almost seven years it’s a match made in heaven for the ever so soulful house of COEO. Be sure to check out the record label showcase here:

An exploration into the the back-catalogues, the deepest depths, the darkest crevices of their collections. Returning with the spoils of this venture: their most cherished records and hidden gems, from the go-to club weapons to the rarely heard home-listening records, and everything in between.

Music is for sharing.

'By the early sixties, the song on the A-side was the 'hit' song that the record company wanted radio stations to play. The B-side would contain less radio friendly and less popular tracks. In our eyes the B-side is a true reflection of the producers taste in music, there is more personality on that side of the record'.
