In the next episode of our monthly podcast series RELEVANT PARTIES, we speak to producer, DJ and founder of @exitrecords, Darren White, better known as @dbridge_exitrecords. Since 2003, his label has dropped music that’s “true to the craft,” exploring new avenues of sound and helping reshape UK club culture in the process, through an eclectic mix of drum and bass, jungle, autonomic, footwork, juke, hip-hop, and soul.

The label’s roster includes legendary acts such as @goldie-official’s Rufige Kru project, British multi-instrumentalist Steve Spacek, Northern Irish producer @calibresignature, and production duo Instra:mental, as well as contemporary drum and bass producers like @jeffreydolenz, @fixate_uk, @workforce_uk, and dBridge himself.

For this episode, RELEVANT PARTIES host Chal Ravens sat down with dBridge, currently based in Antwerp, to explore the world of Exit Records and his own personal backstory. Together, they discussed how he threw himself into drum and bass after a turbulent childhood, became a pioneer of digital technology before returning to analogue machines, and his unerring desire to push things forward.

This week’s episode of Bside Incoming, invites a Brighton based duo to show off their favourites, old and new, from the flip side of their record collection. It’s Cortese.

Their career was kickstarted by their 2019 release of ‘Renault Sport’. Since then, with releases on Shall Not Fade’s sub label Tin White and Fort Romeau’s renowned Cin Cin label, Cortese have cemented themselves as serious producer’s of the underground scene. 

It is always a pleasure to explore the depths of such talented producers’ collections, and hear the sounds that inspire them: From techno rollers to lo-fi house, Cortese bring a deep and dark energy with warm synthy overtones.

Ah yes. The man, the legend. Encompassing years upon years of experience dj'ing various styles, BunZer0 was at the front of the ranks when dubstep was growing it's first tendrils out of the UK, and hosted Belgium's very first events inviting names that all turned out to become household.  Netting himself spots at Dour festival (various times), 10 Days Off, Ancienne Belgique (next to Amon Tobin, Mary Anne Hobbs, Skream, Benga,...), Star Wars, Tomorrowland and so much more... He's also an undisputed leader on the international scale with multiple performances at Outlook festival Croatia, the most prestigious gigs in the UK including FWD at Plastic People or D&B Arena, and even in USA at Tsunami Bass and Reconstrvct.  Nowadays also very busy with his own productions, he is still running the FOB Show on sub.fm, a fan favourite.  (Mentality)

'By the early sixties, the song on the A-side was the 'hit' song that the record company wanted radio stations to play. The B-side would contain less radio friendly and less popular tracks. In our eyes the B-side is a true reflection of the producers taste in music, there is more personality on that side of the record'.
